lol
I guess you will never give this a rest.

Olympic value is Excellence, Respect and Friendship.

Not war or revenge or bullying

石田眞行/ISHIDA Mayuki (father of ISHIDA Daisuke) and Hayata's grandfather were approached by Daily Shincho and Shukan Bunshun for comments, respectively.

Ishida said this is the first time he's heard about Hayata's interest in the Kamikaze pilots, that they talk about the war every year but he never mentioned about them and wonder why she became interested. Daily Shincho points out that the 2023 movie あの花が咲く丘で、君とまた出会えたら。/Till We Meet Again On The Lily Hell could be the reason behind that interest.

According to Shukan Bunshun, Hayata's grandfather used to be a police chief and it's suggested that many of them are conservatives. He said he has not talked to her about the war but admitted to having visited the Kamikaze museum in Chiran. He believes that it's the people and the environment around her that cultured her sentiment toward the Kamikaze museum.

If anything, it's the Japanese media, journalists and scholars that are still on it. They still pump out articles every other day. Here is another one.

In the latest episode of 我住在这里的理由/The Reason I Live Here, 竹內亮/TAKEUCHi Ryo, a Japanese filmmaker who now resides in Nanjing, interviews 森永匠一/MORINAGA Shoichi, another Japanese who has moved to Shanghai after retirement. The reason? Japanese historical revisionism.

Hayata is the one that raised it. So don't blame me. The ones close to her have been approached by the Japanese media as well. That's the price for telling her mind without consideration of the consequences.

I actually had two Japanese friends that were angry about the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan. Yes, it was horrific and terrible. The US thought long and hard to use it. But in the end the justification was to end the war with minimal US casualties. No fault there since it was during a war. The discussion started to get heated but when I said "who started the war?" Things got quiet. So they knew full well what the cause was but was still bitter and resentful towards being the victim and loser.

When I talked about the war with a German colleague who was in his late twenties I asked him if they taught WWII history in the schools. He said they did learn about the Nazis and what Hitler did. So they knew the atrocities and the truth. He was remorseful and sad that his people committed such acts. The difference was Germany owns up to the past and tried to make amends. Learn from history and tries not to make the same mistakes ever again. While Japan is in denial and tries to downplay and erase the horrible atrocities.

I think it comes down to different cultures. Japanese (Asians) are very sensitive to shame and losing face. It's better to just not talk about it and let it fade away. While Westerners can face it head on and even though it was shameful it needs to be discussed and learned about.

could u post this sh+t in history forums ? this is a TT forum we don't need this thread.

@UpSideDownCarl

TTDaily has a sub-forum titled: "General Off Topic Discussion". That is because the forum does allow people to post stuff that is not on the specific topic of table tennis.

This thread is in the General Off Topic Discussion sub-forum.

It is okay if it is here and it is also okay if you just ignore the thread and don't read it. You don't have to read everything.

First tell the mod not to remove posts that were on topic from MY thread at will. This is the consequence of that.

so you doing all this to get back at the mods??
childish behavior

Tony, no need to bother with this. As long as it is in the correct forum Zeio can post this stuff.

I could be wrong but I believe Zeio is referring to a thread that was on the subject of the olympics where a flame war about history and politics got started and I simply removed everything that was historical and political. After that Zeio started this thread in that General Off Topic Discussion sub-forum and it has been here ever since.

The posts that were removed were nothing personal to anyone. They were removed because people had started getting angry, heated and making personal comments because history and politics are a subject that can cause those kinds of responses.

If I see similar stuff start happening where there is a free-for-all flame war, in this thread, it won't matter what the forum is. But if people can discuss the subject in a civil manner, then it is fine for the people who want to discuss this subject to do so.

If Zeio doesn't understand when things are removed because tensions were high and I was simply trying to cool down the temperature of the whole forum, I don't feel I need to explain that stuff to him.

Zeio presents lots of information that is valuable to the forum. And when he presents stuff that you don't feel the need to read up on, then you can ignore it.

I don't remove content arbitrarily. If I remove content there is always a reason. If you ever want an explanation, you can always ask me. And when someone wants to talk about "Free Speech", this is a private forum. Free Speech is the subject of governmental policies. A government that allows free speech must adhere to its own laws: that government cannot arbitrarily restrict free speech that does not break any laws. An instance of speech that could be restricted in the USA is speech that would incite violence.

But this is a private forum. And if removing content serves to tone down the behavior of members so that calm can be restored and flame wars can fade and dissipate, sometimes removal of posts that would have otherwise been perfectly fine, is still entirely up to the forum. So, free speech is not something that always applies on this forum. If you actually understand what free speech refers to, this should be easily understood.

And if someone did try to get other people on the forum to start arguing and making personal attacks, that would violate forum protocol and those posts may get removed. If someone posted content that did not have that intention but had that result, the content may also be removed.

But if Zeio is posting in this thread and you don't want to read it, then, rather than causing a fuss about the content being posted, just ignore the thread.

learning from history is so important.
no one wants war, but right now, Chinese netizens are bullying Japan for its policy on not acknowledging the past or being in denial of it.
The same "denial" that Chinese has with its "human rights abuse".
it is so bad that if Chinese people have some cultural interaction with Japan, ie wearing Japanese cultural clothing, then such person would be subject to bullying too.

Where is peace?
Why people are not taught peace, but taught bullying and seeking revenge from 70+ years ago?
Why is it only China that is making a noise and using bullying to Japan, and all the other dozen + countries/victims of Japanese abuse? why is there only 1 angry child here while the other dozen are more civil about it?

Is it the goal of the leadership of China to make sure there is hate among its people against Japanese, Taiwanese, and many other countries?

China has land disputes with over a dozen countries, uses military to bully many neighbors (excluding Taiwan).
We saw what Hilter did in little time, to allow all German soldiers to follow his hate and we all know that history can't repeat itself.

we need peace and stop with these bullying.

some random video of how Chinese bully Chinese for wearing Japanese clothing. I wonder why they don't go and bully those wearing suites that are "western" clothing.... but then again, what makes these "Chinese Karens" god, to police what people are doing.

You have a valid point. However I can only guess that it's because:

a) China is making up for the century of humiliation by the western (including Japan) powers. They feel they are strong enough and have enough leverage now to get revenge. You know in Chinese culture revenge is so pervasive. So many movies that revolve around revenge.

b) The communist culture is so reliant on propaganda. They are a weak concept to govern people they need to constantly belittle other cultures and governments to bolster themselves. In order to justify themselves they need to make others look worse so they can stay in power. Once people figure out communism doesn't work it's over.

I see your point and agree with it too.
It has been tough being a Chinese in this period (but so is Africans, and many other countries/ethnic groups/cultures)
Africans I think has been victims for over a century, maybe 3 folds of Chinese.

but, fight Japan then.
why fight all those smaller countries too?
did Philippines abuse China in the century of humiliation for example?

See, there are always valid reason on why China is doing this or that, but they are also abusers themselves when trying to act like a victim.
Chinese own historical philosophy talk about peace and not war and that revenge will never end, so why start it.

I hope people figure it out sooner, than later.
