I think Hugo has a tough draw but if he plays the way he did vs Andre, the tournament is already over.
Yeah, he played very well today, but as you've mentioned, he faces some tough opponents.

The place was packed today to see his match, and since I only got to the venue after work, I couldn't get close to table 1, just got some highlights after coming home... I'm not complaining because I got to see Nina Mittelham and Oh Junsung. Oh's match specifically was a delight to watch.

Quarter final, the only non japanese player left is Nina from Germany.
The opposition did try. It was just too hard. Even Lily got two games, if you had told me that before the match I would have lost money betting against you.

All because there were no JNT players in her section of the draw after Miwa withdrew...

Seems like there's higher chance for the choppers to win now that Odo is out 👨‍❤️‍👨

Uda has looked pretty sharp in his wins, if he can climb Mount Calderano (and in Brazil no less), it would legitimately signal a different level. But his last two matches have been absolutely dominant, like amazing consistency, power and precision from both sides of the racket.

Disappointed not seeing Miwa considering she was announced and she's the "defending champion" (last year's Foz do Iguacu).
An interesting Japanese posse, though, we'll have Hayata instead of Miwa.

Odo seems to have dissolved her partnership with Alexis, both are playing XD but with different partners. I wonder if it's because of the incident last time they played together lol.
What incident

What incident
According to Gemini:

"The "incident" in question is an awkward post-match moment at the Singapore Smash. After winning a match, Lebrun went in to celebrate, but Odo completely missed or avoided his attempt at a high-five or fist-bump. The resulting interaction was so stiff and clumsy that it became a viral joke among table tennis fans on social media, with fans teasing that the duo lacked chemistry.

"The partnership was not dissolved over a personal rift; rather, it was always a temporary arrangement"

This is one of the references from Gemini: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DVF5oxojA8k/

If that's the correct "incident" it seems incredibly ridiculous that it got lots of attention, even as a joke.

At least my eyes did not deceive, but maybe Mount Calderano in Brazil was just a bit much. I hope Uda can keep this form, it will make the JNT much more interesting going forward.
