If LTY just kept chopping for the last several points with good placement, the result might be different. I thought Harimoto would blow it off after leading 7:2.
It came down to the gap in experience.

Harimoto went over his 3-4 loss to FZD at Paris 2024 in Part 3 of the Butterfly interview and said he would've fallen into the trap if he stepped around when asked what if he took more risks and how FZD's push broke his spirit at 7:7 of G7 as he didn't know what to do even though he knew a push was coming up next.

Harimoto's mom was a former china national team chopper. It surprised me that Harimoto was so bad against a chopper. Mom needs to give more lessons.
And his dad used to play penhold...

Once the blocking came back and Tianyang stopped scoring as many free points, it was a fair match. Harimoto hugging and piggybacking on his coach, the one that some say should retire. Thats clearly a pipe dream with that relationship.
LTY failed to carry their forehand parallel shots (which required a run-up) through to HT’s forehand. But this may well have been down to HT’s merit, as they played better (lower and faster after the collision) push-drops, because those were a sight to be desired in the first two sets.

HT pushed further more to the backhand side of LTY after game 2. It was not easy for HT to pivot for forehand. Harimoto played much wider placement and moves away from the table a little bit to block/quick loop LTY's forehand loop, which contributed to his win.

His overall game definitely improved in game 2, he should reaply have won that game IMHO, but LTY is tough. I think that Harimoto missed so much in game 1 and parts of game 2 on defense that LTY didn't worrry as much about placement after a while. But thankfully it didn't last forever.

The CNT dif not predict Hashimoto would play 2. If you have any evidence they did, you can share it. I think they fully prepped Kuai Man for Hashimoto ans it showed in their singles match

In any case, we will see how this all plays out. Hopefully, you atill think that Chen Yi's lack of success at the junior level has some special meaning and her growth spurt hurt her table tennis in some permanent way. You make such random statements but never the mea culpas.
My last post was based on WH's response on the MT F lineup at Aichi-Nagoya 2026. You seriously think they didn't prepare for all possible scenarios? Nakazawa put Hashimoto in 1st singles (ABC) with Hayata in 3rd singles on the first try at ATTC 2025. And if many of us here and those in Japan and China have been saying Hashimoto should've played 2nd singles (XYZ) at WTTC 2026 and Nakazawa had to elaborate his rationale afterward, you think the CNT coaches wouldn't have thought of that?

This is second time fatique was a factor Miwa lost in WS F and WD F after ATTC 2024. Even Tieba users doesn't deny that fact as part of the reason for CY's win, after 5 consecutive losses, including the one in WT F (more if WD/XD are counted). As I've stressed repeatedly, they've been keeping a close track of their win rate and players they beat and lost to from junior to senior years and CY lost to Harimoto in all 4 U19 events at WYC 2022.

Last but not least, it was CY that told Table Tennis World that her growth spurt became an obstacle in 2022, citing her loss in U19 GT SF against JPN at WYC 2021, how the team put her in 1st singles up against chopper Ojio Haruna because she had never lost. Therefore, I wrote that post on CY based on her own account. So please, I've wasted enough time with your baseless allegations over the years.

(At the World Youth Championships, Chen Yi—who competed exclusively in the team event—experienced a quarterfinal loss [TL's note: 2-3 Elizabet Abraamian of RUS] that left her feeling completely bewildered, followed by a semifinal comeback against Japan that served as a moment of personal redemption. "The team put me in 1st singles for the semifinal because I had never lost a single game [match] to Ojio Haruna before. But that quarterfinal defeat really left me dazed." After losing the opening match of the semifinal to Ojio, Chen Yi suddenly found herself backed into a corner. Before stepping onto the table for the fourth match, she splashed cold water on her face twice. "Trailing 1–2 against Kihara Miyuu, under that kind of do-or-die pressure, I forgot all about being nervous; I was entirely focused on how to play the next shot. Winning the deciding game after it reached 9:9 proves that the hard work I’ve put into my own development was the right path.")

You obviously didnt read my questions and answered yours. If you can"t answer my question, in your infamous words, dont waste my time. To repeat, what evidence do you have that China expected Hashimoto to play two matches? The point was not that Chen Yi's growth spurt didn't affect her, you extrapolated from that to make comments about her prospects as a player after the mixed doubles final - most players *never* win so it doesn't matter. If you are not addressing those specific questions or points, then please save us some time.

ZEIO: "Poor CY got bogged down by her growth spurt. *Yet another proof that if you couldn't win in your junior years, then chances are you wouldn't win in your senior years, either.*

Someone called Harimoto " Harry Potter " at match point. LOL
It seems that Li tianyuan subtly gave Harimoto a " middle finger " salute at the end of the match. Just watch his left hand and tell me what you think.

You seem to like to read insights into random things that table tennis players do. I'm noting a pattern here and I hope it doesn't cross the line into something extremely ridiculous one day.

NB: Gozo shed a little tear of joy. So happy to see ol'skool fh in this modern era. I see a little bit of Wang Liqin x Ryu Seungmin in LTY. Agree?

Who was it directed at then ? The umpire, the crowd, himself ?
Again, going out of your way to read meaning into things that an athlete is doing for no obvious reason is your prerogative, but you need more than "oh, it has to mean something because I think it does." If he was asking "WTF just happened" with that gesture, it is his own business. If he wanted to flip the bird to Harimoto, it would be more obvious, and if he was flipping the bird and hiding it, then it was not for your consumption or anyone one else's.

You were also posting recently something ridiculous such as that a player must make the other player aware they are taking a timeout or they are being rude and targeted HZJ. No, the only person that needs to be aware is the umpire and timeouts can also be called by the coach and accepted by the player. It is becoming a pattern that you keep looking for meaning in things that not that big a deal as you make them out be for the player whether it be hidden serves that just about all the players do, timeouts/rules that are managed by umpires or innocuous hand movements that players do.

For me it is not a surprise. A lot of chinese hate Harimoto and he was frequently bullied and insulted by the chinese fans. This kind of hostile, rude and disrespectful behaviour has to be stopped.

Quote from a reddit user
" In other sports, this kind of racist behavior could result in a lifetime ban from stadiums and even criminal charges. The way WTT is ignoring this is absolutely shameful, especially for an international sporting organization."

I'm not sure if you are using Chinese fan behavior to explain what you think Li Tianyang did, but if you are, I will just say that I speak with a good number of top pro players and have spoken to them on this topic and EVERYONE finds the Chinese fan behavior to be despicable and annoying. The CNT players/coaches/staff dislike the CNT fans more than most lol.

And Harimoto and his loud choing is an issue that people on the internet get enraged about but actual players at that caliber don't give a damn about. Most of the Chinese fan hate comes from the fact that he is a big threat to their idols' dominance and the political side of him being an ethnic Chinese that is proud of his Japanese nationality.
