Hello TTD’ers!

You may have seen recently that the moderation team has exploded with new blood…..

Myself and @NextLevel have joined Carl, Dan and GiangT as guardians of this very small and wonderful corner of the internet.

I thought it would be a good time to go over some of the very old rules, and dispel any lingering myths around the moderation, how it works and what to expect.

Rules:

Searching through the archives, you will find the “rules” page - https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/help/rules/

We’ll look at updating them in the near future to better reflect the forum as it currently stands - But it’s a good reference point to start with.

Moderation:

In a perfect world, there would be no need for moderation - However, as is the way with internet forums, sometimes a light touch is required to ensure the best experience for the majority.

But it is just that…. A light touch. The moderators aren’t here to push an agenda, take sides or get involved unless absolutely necessary.

I also want to add that Moderators should not be fence sitters when it comes to opinion. They should be free to participate in the various threads as regular members do, and other members should be able to disagree and interact with them as such.

There will be no "moderating" a simple discussion just because you disagree (providing everyone stays within the rules).

Reporting:

If you feel there is a topic or post that is breaking the rules, please use the “report” function, which is below each post.

Please be mindful before you report, and don’t just report a post because you disagree with the user or don’t like it.

NOTE: As we've discovered recently, if you interact with the trolls, there is a chance that a troll thread/post becomes a legitimate thread/post.

Please do not interact with the thread/post - Report it and wait for action to be taken.

If we have to take repeated action against any individual, they will be removed from the forum.

Free Speech:

The great free speech debate…… As I’ve mentioned before, there is no such thing as free speech on the internet in privately owned forums like this.

You have complete freedom of speech, providing you do so within the rules of the forum.

Moving Forward:

With potential TTD meet ups and a growing community, this forum is very well placed to be in an even better place than it is now.

If anyone has any suggestions for the forum, moderation, or anything TTD Forum related, please let us know in the comments below!

Thanks,

NDH
