  1. C-pen handle shape

Exactly! They sell different shapes of handshake blades. Why not do the same with penhold? I should credit Sanwei with their creativity in blade design, though. Have you guys seen the pincer blade? It's really comfortable for the penhold. I was lucky enough to get one before they stopped...
  2. First blade for beginner+. Help choose and advice.

Best composition for beginners is limba+limba+ayous+limba+limba. Amazing feeling, and you will get speed if you hit hard. Several of the blades mentioned have this composition: - Tibhar Stratus Powerwood is an incredible option. Probably the best one, even. The only unusual thing about this...

  4. Friendship 2-in-1 new sponge?

I don't know if rubber with two sponges is a good idea, but I am obligated to try it due to being infected with EJ
  5. Jpen TPB tips

(former jpen player here) The biggest way for me to learn was by watching other jpen players (in videos, like Ryu Seung Min, Cazuo Matsumoto, Kim Taek Soo, etc). Watching cpen players who use TPB (like Ma Lin) is also useful. There are also many useful tips on youtube:
  6. FS: Pen Hold blade supporter - SOLD

Ah. I also use a wide claw grip, but my fingers are pretty long so they curl around and touch the handle. I recently made a clay piece to accommodate for the wide claw grip:
  7. C-pen handle shape

I tend to like square handles (especially Stiga) because they are simply bigger. I'd go for a big round handle if it existed.

  11. Help with backhand rubber

Palio AK47 Can't be beat, in price or in quality. It's extremely fast, and you can get a good bit of spin on it too. Plus, the sound is incredibly satisfying -- like firing a gun.
  12. I think I unlocked the ultimate cheat code for Butterfly rubbers with Spring Sponge X

Probably because you are straining to play stronger. But if you get stronger, you play strong and relaxed. I have the same philosophy about bicycles -- if you think you need gears, no you don't. Just get stronger.
  13. I think I unlocked the ultimate cheat code for Butterfly rubbers with Spring Sponge X

Just man up and play your rubbers unboosted. If it feels dead, you just need to get stronger
  14. Is D09c bad for brush-looping?

All of these guys at TT11 tested D09c and thought it was ass:
  15. longevity G1 vs. D05.

D05 is extremely durable, in my experience. As long as you take care of it and don't tear it, it will maintain its playing properties for a long time. I've had a sheet for about a year and it still plays really well.
  16. Help me choose a blade+rubber set

Unfortunately 729 Bloom Power is a little more expensive now -- it's more like $15 (which is still worth it imo). If you can get Stiga Mantra for $17 then absolutely take it -- it's a great rubber. But usually it's $30-35. I would really advise against Yinhe V14 or any other carbon blade...
  17. Rosewood NCT V

Review by 'greenbeanmachine' on item 'Rosewood NCT V'

I've played with this blade for a few sessions and I'm already liking it a lot. The thing I noticed right away is how controlled this blade is in the short game. I can receive serves and place them close to the net. I can also return powerful loops very softly. 10/10 in this regard, this blade...
  18. Aruna is way smarter than we think...

Wow, thanks for this brilliant analysis! I also really like Aruna's playing style and I usually root for him in matches. I watched this match live with Hugo Calderano and I was amazed how well he managed to come back. That's part of Aruna's tactics, for sure. But there's more than what you...
  19. Help me choose a blade+rubber set

Here's my recommendation: Blade: 729 Green Goblin or 729 Rose or DHS Power G15. Don't get something with carbon in it if you're not advanced -- it will be way too fast and uncontrolled, and you won't feel the ball to get feedback on your technique. Ebony and rosewood (the wood used in blades I...
  20. Is D09c bad for brush-looping?

Dima is good enough to do brush strokes with anything though. The question is whether it's easy or hard to do brush strokes. Referencing a professional isn't making the case that it's easy, and it isn't refuting the case that it's hard. Also for the record he uses D09c on forehand and D05 on...
