  1. Improving Third Ball Play After Service in Table Tennis

I have followed most of the big developments and scientific articles that have come out with regards to strength training in the past 15 years or so, so I am well aware of how incomplete and underfunded that much more popular and studied topic is. I appreciate the idealism but have to laugh at...
  2. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

When you get the authorized shop's LAC, see if you can spot any differences between it and the Lazada sheets that bubble and break. Hopefully we can spot a discernable difference between the two.
  3. Is it possible to find a better blade than the Septear ?

Welcome to the forum. It's always good to see new members, and it's especially good to see more custom blade makers here.
  4. WTT Star Contender Ljubljana 2023

One of the more anticipated matches of this draw so far with Moregard and Alexis Lebrun. The tension was palpable and the first couple of sets certainly delivered. Interesting that Moregard wasn't playing to Lebrun's pace. Instead of obviously stalling on every serve receive like Licen, he...
  5. WTT Star Contender Ljubljana 2023

No thread for this event yet so here it is. You all need to watch the last set between Togami and Gacina. One of the best games I've seen all year. Starts about 1 hour in.
  6. "wrapping" the ball.

Zeio posted a paper specifically demonstrating that pro players are doing things that you say are suboptimal. These include accelerating the racket past the contact point and pronating the forearm shortly before contact. Are you suggesting that pro players are performing strokes suboptimally...
  7. My Personal Guide to Rubbers on Aliexpress

When you boost the Mercury 2 medium you'll be shocked by how much more speed and spin you get. Unfortunately, it softens the sponge to around 48d (measured with my durometer). I've been meaning to find Mercury 2 hard but they are not available anywhere. They used to be. Maybe someone bought...
  8. Looking for an advice for my new bat

You've served your time with a premade already. Get a custom bat. Learn to glue and cut the rubbers yourself. When they are $5 sheets of rubber, you can get practice doing it and not feel bad when you mess up.
  9. Looking for an advice for my new bat

Yinhe N11S is a fine beginner blade. I'd get a Sanwei Fextra 7 though for the same price. Your setup puts you in the $45 range unless you're getting the rubbers for a lot cheaper than usual. If you want to keep it under $30 you can just go Mercury 2 medium for FH and Mercury 2 soft for BH...
  10. Nittaku Hina Hayata H2 Review

Please read my post in it's entirety before responding. You clearly have missed something I said.
  11. Nittaku Hina Hayata H2 Review

The blade looks exactly like a Gyo-en. See the picture of the blades near the bottom of this page https://www.nittaku.com/products/rackets/post-158 Not really up for debate imo.
  12. Recommendations for a beginner + few questions

Usually people buy inexpensive Chinese rubbers from Aliexpress. If you can't access that, then another option is tt-maximum.com which ships from Ukraine.
  13. Nittaku Hina Hayata H2 Review

Any idea why Hayata appears to be playing with the Gyo-en now (at least the prototype design handle)? Could it be just an H2 with the Gyo-en handle? Kinda odd how she would not be playing with her own namesake blade, especially since it seems like everyone agrees that it's a very good blade.
  14. Is EJing good for improving?

I think this is likely true for experienced players, but a situation I can think of where switching setups can immediately improve play, and that's because I experienced it myself. I started with a Nittaku Acoustic with bouncy Fastarc rubbers. The handle was too thin for me and the entire...
  15. Recommendations for a beginner + few questions

It sounds like your biggest issue is that your backhand rubber is too bouncy for your liking. Maybe just change that to something more controllable and less bouncy. Not sure that you need to change your entire setup 6 months into serious play.
  16. Is EJing good for improving?

This is a good way to look at things. Maybe in the short term it'll mess with your consistency, but if your equipment has to be completely fine tuned to a specific preference, then this might also cause problems. Maybe the humidity is high and is affecting your rubber, or some other factor like...
  17. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

I was tempted to try out Loki Rxton 1 Plus from this video review here: The sponge and maybe even topsheet seems completely different (my red sheet has a pink sponge). It's intended to be my foray into harder backhand control rubber and measures around 50d Shore O on the durometer. I want to...
  18. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

I was mostly joking in that comment, since a large amount of conversation in all tt forums seems to be devoted to the 'boosted H3 feeling' without having to boost. For me, I travel often to different countries and it's just not convenient to bring multiple rubbers, booster, and be in a small...
  19. "wrapping" the ball.

Okay I appreciate your explanation of your categories of strokes. But in the video the coach is hitting the back of the ball (forwards) with a near perpendicular contact and producing a loop from it (topspin and arc). This sort of stroke doesn't appear to fall into any of your neat categories...
  20. "wrapping" the ball.

I posted the video of what I understand as "wrapping" here. The coach does a good job of describing the perpendicular contact and concurrent brush technique. Please watch and let me know what you think. https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/wrapping-the-ball.31447/post-414348
