  1. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

I've read some reviews about the Hueison alc. They say its overall a decent blade, but a notch lower quality than the Yinhe/Sanwei alc blades. And I'm not quite sure exactly what those Playa blades are supposed to be. They apparently let you select the handle style.
  2. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Maybe it is limba, but how can we ever know for sure. Oh well, I look forward to your review on how it is. I'm also tempted to get a Lemuria ALC because the overall construction looks very nice, and they claim to follow the Koto-ALC-Limba pattern. This is a very nice photo of the V14 pro...
  3. Limba, Hinoki, Ayous or Koto?

I think in terms of just a flat hit, your thought would be right. That the outer carbon would always be faster. But because the stroke is not a direct stroke and also involves spin and angles, the inner carbon is faster and spinnier on the heavy strokes.
  4. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

It's really not that small by any means. I think its pretty much just a normal grip to me.
  5. Limba, Hinoki, Ayous or Koto?

But wouldn't you say that on hard topspin loops that Inner is faster than Outer?
  6. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Yeah it may not be Koto. Sometimes the sellers just say random things when they don't know the real answer. But the only other time I tried the XVT blade, it was horribly stiff. But lets see what you find.
  7. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Cool, curious to see your findings. I couldn't get over the Koto-alc-koto construction. I would love to have a Pro 01 as well, but I already have the V14 pro, which is probably close enough.
  8. Backhand improvement, and advice

How would you start to practice flicks and short push? RE short push: I imagine its very hard to practice this shot unless your partner can also do this shot well? It may be hard to find somebody willing to practice this with you? RE flicks: I often use little flicks in game against non-spin...
  9. Backhand improvement, and advice

Seems like a lot of people think BH loop against topspin is not a high priority shot. If thats true, which stroke should i practice? These strokes I feel reasonably confident in: serve, block, fh drive, bh drive, fh loop, fh loop against topspin, bh opening loop. Thse strokes i rarely use in...
  10. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Well xvt may not be bad, but if youre looking to clone the viscaria, xvt will be far off i think. The yinhe pro 01 will be very close I believe.
  11. Limba, Hinoki, Ayous or Koto?

Yeah, obviously FZD uses the banana flick on 70% of his returns, so rebound of the Viscaria maybe suits that stroke very well. But he also has the most powerful, devastating forehand loop-kills in the game. So that stroke would seem to favor the HL5. And I don't think HL5 is bad for banana...
  12. Backhand improvement, and advice

I think this is a better example. Are they driving or looping on their BH to BH rallies?
  13. Backhand improvement, and advice

For example: In this type of backhand to backhand rally, are they hitting a drive or a loop? It looks pretty snappy to me like a drive, but the stroke also looks longer than Harimoto's drive.
  14. Backhand improvement, and advice

Haha, honestly I don't think I will ever surpass 1800 USATT in my lifetime. I really only started playing 8 months ago and didn't expect that I would be taking it so serious until now. But how about the CNT players? Are they hitting their backhand as a drive or as a loop?
  15. Limba, Hinoki, Ayous or Koto?

Sure, it would be really interesting to hear TB or FZD compare their Koto blade vs a HL5 and explain why they feel the Koto blade is better for their game overall. As you said, from where I am sitting, I wouldn't be able to understand it well. I don't know if any commentary like that is out there?
  16. Backhand improvement, and advice

Thanks these are good points. In regards to #3, when I try to hit the BH loop, I usually take a step back farther away from the table. I let the ball drop a little bit, otherwise I feel the ball is too high to loop. How do you loop the ball before its highest point? I can't even imagine that...
  17. Backhand improvement, and advice

Well I think my BH is a lot less punchy than Mima Ito, but probably flatter than Timo Boll. I would say its a pretty basic backhand drive, maybe like Harimoto but from slightly farther behind the table (because my reaction time is nowhere near his). Maybe I'll keep practicing the BH loop for 3...
  18. Backhand improvement, and advice

Maybe 2 hours, 4 days a week for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I can definitely sense a huge improvement and also the people who I have been practicing with saw a huge improvement.
  19. Backhand improvement, and advice

Well I have been practicing BH open up everyday for 3 or 4 weeks. It's definitely become more of an asset for me in game now and is quite spinny. But once the topspin-topspin rally begins, my BH becomes purely a flat drive. It's fast, but doesn't have that type of penetrating spin as on the FH...
  20. Limba, Hinoki, Ayous or Koto?

Well I dont know if slower is the right phrasing, but Viscaria variants seem to me to have less gears than HL5 variants. For top pros, unleashing the highest gears of HL5 should be easy tnough.
