  1. NDH Looping with new Garaydia ZLC

In general, your left leg probably has to start bearing more weight. I get the impression that your right leg is much stronger and that you are comfortable staying on it without transferring weight to the neutral. IT should get better but try to feel weight on your left leg more in general.
  2. US Rating VS Rest of World

We can talk about it in person sometime. I would just say that having a good organizer who is willing to keep things fair even when trying to grow the league matters. Allowing people to register very late after first matches were played or skip matches slated at other venues was just poor form.
  3. US Rating VS Rest of World

There is no financial remuneration for many of those sports in the US as well, and honestly, with the possible exception of bowling and very recently chess, the financial remuneration is higher for those sports in the UK. MY point, which I really messed up, is that those sports are largely...
  4. US Rating VS Rest of World

Canada is not as individualistic as the USA but it has many of the same problems that the US has when it comes to organizing and playing TT. Anyone disagree? I actually tried to play in a team league in the NY area. I put together a team of Philly area players and did the driving. In the...
  5. US Rating VS Rest of World

The USATT does and it sanctions rated events. We don't have a focus on rankings separated from ratings. The ratings have their issues but they are pretty helpful for certain things.
  6. US Rating VS Rest of World

You have often written such things Tinykin and I am never sure whether your conclusion is sourced in your ideological understanding of the US or the facts. There are lots of non-professional sorts doing very well in the US, both individual and team. TT in America just competes with too many...
  7. US Rating VS Rest of World

Ratings are earned in tournaments based on a n ELO type system. There are individual leagues established in many clubs, but team leagues are being set up on a small but hopefully growing scale.
  8. Against spin vs with spin.

I play a lot of defenders and I don't dummy loop. And William Henzell does describe the no-spin loop on TTEdge and it's mostly a regular loop with a locked wrist. Hence my point that just vary the amount of spin on your loop and you end up in the same place. I loop with less spin to opponents...
  9. NDH Looping with new Garaydia ZLC

Guys, he is obviously playing far from the table. You don't buy rocket launchers to play at the table.
  10. Having trouble achieving fluidity in easy drills with friend

Yes, but the problem in part is that the consistency of the coach deceives the student a little about what is really going on (our OP is a case in point). That you could take something from practice to matches so quickly is awesome. For me, the process can take up to 6 months or a year at...
  11. NDH Looping with new Garaydia ZLC

Not at all. Thanks for the kind words. IT would be interesting to see how you play a point with that kind of power and how you fit that in with your backhand. Do you loop on the backhand side?

  13. Having trouble achieving fluidity in easy drills with friend

We have a coach like that in my club. The problem IMO is that it is not as important to look good as to learn to adjust to the ball after a while. Spin reading as well as ball trajectory calculation is a critical skill in TT. I am okay though with coaches making their students look good in...
  14. NDH Looping with new Garaydia ZLC

I am 6 ft 1 and I can get nothing close to as low as you do. That you can control such rocket launchers is truly amazing.
  15. Against spin vs with spin.

In general, dummy looping is one of those things that just falls under spin variation. I would be hard pressed to find a top player who uses it more than once a match a tournament. It's much easier to just put spin on the ball in varying quantities to annoying places on the table and let the...

  17. Guess the Rating

I agree except for going to the sides. The elbow is far better.
  18. Omega V Asia

5 out of 5 rating for Omega V Asia Fantastic rubber - supports all looping styles - the soft topsheet allows for heavy spin on slow loops and great arc as well. The hard sponge allows for hard drive loops. You can be extremely consistent looping with this rubber no matter your looping style...
  19. Ask Timo Boll a question on the TTD podcast!

You have a fairly unique looping technique with lots of use of the wrist - how did you develop/evolve it? You said in a recent interview that your rubbers are available to everyone. Is this really true? Some people say that pro rubbers are sent by the manufacturer in batches and hand picked...
  20. "Feel of ball", affected by thickness of plies/quality management or am Im Crazy?

My personal advice to you is to learn to loop in a variety of ways. Hitting through the ball is especially helpful when countering topspin from near to mid distance. As you get better too, you need to learn to hit through the ball sometimes to counter the levels of spin being put on the ball.
