  1. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

WCQ's pendulum serve is definitely not clean. Lin Shidong's pendulum serve is way cleaner than his. The ball clearly goes missing in so many highlights on the way down.
  2. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

There's no need to accommodate those who do this anyway. Why have rules if the rules are to be bent to suit people who don't care about the rules? By the way the head obscuring the ball hurts the timing of the receiver significantly.

Wang Manyu vs Kuai Man was a mystery - after being 2-1 up in sets and leading 8-3, she proceeds to make all sorts of weird easy mistakes on the FH loop and the loop movement starts to turn weird. Something wrong on her FH rubber?
  4. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Harimoto's BH opening loop against underspin has been so stale and lukewarm. I counted points where ppl pushed long to his BH with pace, and he pretty much never wins those points. The pattern is push long and then crush his BH opening loop. Hugo did it with extreme prejudice for so many points...

On the other hand, WMY's hook serve is always perfectly legal and still highly effective! It is my counterpoint to ppl who claim to all hook serves are illegal cheating. You don't have to throw it so much into your body lol.
  6. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Every single LSD hook serve is illegal. If I were his opponent, challenging the hook serve is just a free point imo. Not sure why his opponents aren't doing it more often.
  7. I have joined the long pimple people

Yeah if you're not young or athletic, double inverted is a liability in TT imo...
  8. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Yes, just make a fuss if it is not allowed etc... would have been worth a try. You would never win by playing nice all the time. Sometimes you gotta be nasty lol
  9. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

He should have challenged unless he was out of challenges....
  10. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Miwa came so close! What a shame about the missed FH at 10:10 in the 7th but she really brought some heavy artillery with her and played an amazing match. Especially the chiquita play was seriously dangerous and reminds me of the ZJK playstyle. Wang Manyu really had to go insane defence mode to...
  11. ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, 4/14-20

Great match from Sabine to win against Lee Eun Hye - she looks like she is a lot more comfortable chopblocking with the anti now repeatedly and not just pivoting blindly. Anders Lind challenged the serve for hiding with head - pot calling the kettle black?
  12. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

What a big FH Sora has! When his FH is on he is a bit unstoppable. Sora's FH is on Wang Chuqin level of threat especially on that 3rd ball, it just looks nasty af to defend. Xiang Peng made the mistake of pushing long too much to him - should have stuck to more short pushes (but that is easier...

If they use rubbers with terrible spin production, they basically can't produce quality backspin pushes. So you don't need to respect the backspin as much as you would against spinny rubber players. Why not just do drive loops (going forward) instead of taking the ball late and slow looping it...
  14. How to play against Lefties?

It is all about serve and receive lol. First thing is knowing how to loop the super wide FH corner serve and be able to come back to rally even if it gets blocked to the BH, if you can't do that the opponent can simply serve pendulum wide to your FH and then redirect to your deep BH and you are...
  15. First Time Penholder: Help me out!

Nah if I go penhold I will go in Felix Lebrun style ie full RPB and penhold. I suspect with penhold RPB it just doesn't work well with middle balls, you just have to use FH like a true penholder. But this is something weird to adjust to
  16. Rubber advice for the dark side

Buy some anti for BH (max spin reversal) and a super slow tacky rubber on FH (max spin). Nasty af setup in the right hands.
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yes - i discussed this before here but this is one of the strongest amateur styles (LP/inverted twiddling Cpen) imo (which I've seen can even take down some pros). I know their weaknesses now but it is always easier said than done to exploit it.
  18. WTT Champions Incheon 2025 - 1-6 Apr 2025

i have no idea what happened - he was missing everything and couldn't make a high quality loop to save his life, not from the BH or from the FH - I think he wasn't brushing the ball sufficiently at all. Weird af imo. Tbh Xiang Peng didn't even do anything particularly impressive this match, he...
  19. First Time Penholder: Help me out!

I actually tried penhold a bit yesterday lol. RPB and FH all have more naturally open angles compared to shakehand so that was definitely something to adjust to. I kept overshooting the table. But the spin quality is comparable to what I get with shakehand. Penhold is a backspin killer -...
  20. WTT Champions Incheon 2025 - 1-6 Apr 2025

Usually he misses a lot of his big FHs and BHs and loses. This tournament they were pretty much all landing...
