I think Hugo might win too... but LJK is not such an easy player to get past now as he's very consistent and spinny. Hugo will really need to stay consistent as he hits his big shots. The success rates of his BH down the line loopkill will be the key here imo.

Yes, this is what I said in the other thread, a lot of pips players over rely on the pips and didn't develop their inverted side to the max unlike a lot of inverted players. Imo they already overachieved relative to their technical level.

It's mostly because she is addicted to FH smashing using inverted, which is far from the best use of inverted. She never developed a true quality consistent FH loopkill and loop. Everyone was exploiting her weaknesses and lack of stability on the FH. And it is a self inflicted weakness imo.

His BH sucks bad, and his recovery is also quite poor especially after his FH loopkill. But these are not problems in Doubles, and I would argue that Chen Qi had a really successful career in doubles, something that FZD or Xu Xin doesn't have.

No, the biggest advantage of LP/anti is serve receive. A lot of pips players don't have strong enough FH serves and loopkills because they over-rely on the pips unfamiliarity. So the way to win as a pips player is - your serves give the opponent huge trouble and you're consistently FH 3rd ball...

Yes interestingly, this appears to be somewhat like the tangential elasticity concept of modern inverted rubbers to really increase the spin. If tennis had this I would be really interested to try it out!

Watched Hugo play out of his mind against a sluggish FZD. If he plays like this, he might even win against Liang Jingkun. Ma Long on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. This may be Ma Long's best chance of a WTT champions title now that his biggest opponent FZD is gone!

The big weakness of outer ALC is the short game tbh. You need to be very precise to be able to absorb the momentum of the ball to keep it sufficiently short. Inner ALC is way better at short game, and even more so if it's tacky.

Nah you can brush it quite hard with outer ALC too and generate huge topspin. It's just that you have to tweak the hit/brush ratio somewhat. It is a bit different for sure.
