The biggest problem he has to face is that Nigerian backhand coaching is just abysmal - so he has to fix years of bad technical practice - he has worked on it a lot in Europe and now has an overall effective backhand game but there is room for improvement. But to me, they are probably still...

Those were league matches and in a format where the matches didn't mean much (his team was going to win regardless because of how overpowered it was). You never know what specifically informs the goals or practice in such matches.

IT's obvious he needed it to go to game 7 and to take a bathroom break 😋. Too bad for him it was best of 5.

Quadri beat a CNT stud for the first time. Congrats!

Most of Lin Yun Ju's highest level expertise is in the serve and return game and most of his patterns are 1) now better known and 2) not as effective against lefties. I don't rate the losses in regular tournament/practice matches and to a lesser degree league matches as I do the loss at the...

She won the China National Games and was the internal favorite if you followed what happened in China before this tournament. I actually made $50 by betting on this knowledge which people who were focused on the Olympics were completely ignorant of. Thanks TTD and MLFMC.

I don't know whether it is visible on TV but Wang Manyu brushes her forehand way too much.

They beat the stronger doubles team (Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin prior). Domination all the way. Let us not make excuses for the greatness of Sweden's achievement.

Sometimes it takes good play to make someone look bad.

injustice!

Didn't see anyone bring up the fantastic performance of the men's doubles team from Sweden (Karlsson and Falck nee Karlsson and Karlsson). They beat not one but two Chinese teams on their way to the finals. Hope they complete the job and take the gold vs Korea. Their performance in the semi was...

Justice!

He can but I don't think he will. Truls has been taken seriously by China for years even at the junior level. I would be surprised if they haven't figured out tactics that the rest of the world can learn from to defang Truls. The other thing is that FZD is the most consistent player in the...

I missed this conversation. I don't think it is fair to Harimoto to say he hasn't improved in the last four years. People who watch him in doubles and mixed doubles will see the difference and the fire in his forehand. Zeio brought up the fact that Harimoto's parents really hold him to high...

FZD is not as powerful as Hugo. That was one of the greatest power displays on the backhand diagonal that I had ever seen. Liang Jingkun's backhand got severely abused until they made it a short short game.

That was one of the most surreal matches to see live. I asked a friend of mine who coached whether Truls will change his philosophical approach to technique. He laughed and said he needed to watch the match but Truls probably gave up. Slapping loops and strawberry looping does look like it to...

Many people can loop with much smaller objects. We overestimate the surface area of the racket that we truly use.

The same Liang who beat FZD at the last WTTC and usually gives FZD a tough match? Who you visibly see ML and FZD show massive relief after beating him? In fact one could very well argue that strong forehand players don't do that much better against FZD and ML and the bottom line is that LJK is...

Everything looks good, everything can better. I like parts of the backhand but I think too much of the spin comes from elbow and not much from the wrist. But maybe if you did a chiquita the technique would change. The use of the back and hips, the most important thing for power, is extremely...

Ma Long must be very happy with the doubles gold.... something he always wanted... Fan and ML and continually shown in their matches that their level built for the Olympics was just not something of this world... makes me give extra credit to Dima and Lin for pushing them so hard...
