Sorry, I would never call that player fat. He may be a little unfit thus slow for top class TT. Also, can anyone say why he got that yellow card at 1:27? I saw him move the ball with his foot, presumably to make it easier to pick up. But a yellow card?

In the past, blades got heavier with age due to the multiple gluings. I don't think the water based glues sink into the blades as much. Plus, maybe, the carbon blades are not as absorbant as the all-wood of old, thus today's players go straight for the heavier ones. All theory of course.

Interesting. Us players in the north have always done this by sticking the bat near room heaters or under ones' clothing. Some players also breathe on the ball, during knockup, in order to to warm it up a bit. This made the bat more grippy not speedy and eliminated bat condensation. It does...
