  1. The old serve rules

You missed a great opportunity to learn You should have been looking at this match as a learning experience, but your writing gives the impression that you couldn't be bothered. Let's see, 3-11 in the first game shows that your own serves were not having any effect. The player was an old man...
  2. Any experience with Butterfly Spinart?

Harvey, Tenergy is a difficult rubber to fully control fully but once mastered, you won't want anything else. But controlling T05 can be made worse by using a blade as fast the Clipper. I would go as far as saying that the Spinart will also be difficult on the Clipper, but Spinart has better...
  3. The old serve rules

Do you include penholders in that backhand only serve rule? Umpire some matches first before you start making judgements like that.
  4. Belgium Open 2014 - ITTF World Tour

Sublime sidespin choppy block by Sammy but bring back the 38mm ball.

Comment by 'Tinykin' in media 'Belgium Open 2014 Highlights: Vladimir Samsonov Vs Simon Arvidsson (FINAL)'

I know that this is a highlight reel but it seemed that both players hardly bothered with short serves, they were mostly long. Net ball situation is even worse. The ball was hitting the net solidly yet still going over. The players just look like they were labouring with their efforts to hit the...
  6. What is your Current and All time top 10?

I'll put it as gently as I can. That sort of statement today is considered very racist.
  7. What is your Current and All time top 10?

32mm ball??? where did you get that from? I've been playing from the sixties and I don't recall any ball change
  8. .

5 or 6 years ago??? Boy, time flies. That float serve is still the most impressive to me. There's just no clue that it's coming plus it's short so the receiver must commit himself to a certain bat angle.
  9. What is your Current and All time top 10?

If you are going to say that, then you can't compare 1980-2000 players with the present. Those players had 38mmm ball. hidden serves and some really powerful speedglue. That's a very different sport to today.
  10. The ball changed but the equipment does not

Josep, sorry to tell you but the aim of the ITTF is for the game to lose much of its essence. That is, it wants to slow the game and remove much of the spin.
  11. 7th set. Waldner 10 Ma Lin 5. Ma lin manages to win this

Waldner's worst loss. His great rival at the time was Liu. He admitted after this match that he lost concentration as he was thinking about the next match which was against Liu. Crazy.
  12. New montage of points

No probs, mate. I'm just an old fart wishing I was younger, spritelier.......and handsomer of course:-)
  13. New montage of points

I stopped watching half-way through as I was feeling so inadequate
  14. Who knows any custom blade makers?

    Yep, that's him, Ross Leidy.
  15. Who knows any custom blade makers?

http://ospblades.com/ http://www.bladesbycharlie.com/ http://www.americanhinoki.com/ http://www.soulspin.tt/en/soulspin.html There is one particular guy very popular among the one-off blades fraternity whose name escapes me at the moment
  16. No rubbers legal?

It used to be a regular part of a player's training to play with a blade with no rubber. Hmmm, thinking about it, this may have been dropped with the banning of speed glue. Players today don't carry tins of glue anymore so can't reglue their bats.
  17. What is your Current and All time top 10?

Your all-time list starts late seventies/early eighties which isn't really all-time. Any all-time list has to start with Barna as number one. He was the one who popularised TT and made it into a worldwide sport.
  18. The ball changed but the equipment does not

It's too early to judge. It will take about 2-3 years for all the implications for tactics, equipment, training, ball quality/characteristics to settle down. Remember, we haven't seen anything from Butterfly as yet.
  19. Please help me how to receive opponent's services in the best way !

LOL, sorry guys I did not mean to start some mystery. I think in editing I must have accidentally deleted the next sentence. Anyway, this comes from years of watching local league and being an official umpire. I have even had to call a let for it on several occasions as it was so obvious. Lower...
