Checking a ball
Hello everyone,
My question is how to check a ball if it is good to play. By this i dont mean if the company of the ball is good or bad . I want to know how to check if a ball is completely round. I can spin the ball on my nails as well if that could help.how to know if the ball has any dents on it. Thank you .

Put it onto a table or something else flat, grab it with your fingers and put a side/top spin on it. Sometimes you notice something weird.

A roundness gauge perhaps?
Wonder if this would work for a TT ball
Or maybe you need to make a roundness gauge like this:

I would spin it on the table to check if its wobbling .. however if there is a hidden crack or if one side of the ball has become soft , I normally press it on the table with the paddle with a little pressure , of course not with such pressure that a good ball will break under it, and rotate it , if it has a hidden crack the ball collapses

Put ball on flat surface, open palm and press down with 100kg down force on ball, cracks will become quicklt evident.
