I think that the ittf should abandon the "totally random draw rule" in events like these: two QFs are match ups with players that have already met once in the group stage! I don't know who would find such repeat meetings interesting compared to all new match ups in these quarter finals?

In my view, this draw (one China vs China match and two repeated matches) has made an extremely exciting tournament a lot less interesting

. But let's hope that tonights QFs will prove me wrong...

Congrats to Xin, he performed as expected. But my World Cup hero is Dima. I'm still sad over his semifinal loss, he was brilliant and came incredibly close to beating Xu. Coming back from 0-2 against a player like that and taking a lead... That takes class, and Ovtcharov displayed plenty of it.

IMO, Dima has mental weakness problem. I really hated to see him giving up the fight in the 7th game after all the fight he gave previously.

this is due to that there used to have some players purposely lose a match in qualification group to avoid to play against certain player in the next round so he can reach to final. Or either a coach ask his two players to do that.

If you recall the olympic badminton not long ago, the china coach did ask the women pair to lose the match to secure two pair in final. But end up both china and korea disqualified. And the badminton federation also decide the random draw in 2nd round in future

I think he felt he already missed his chance. Leading 3 games to 2 and having 6-4 in the sixth was a do or die moment for him and he knew it. Once Xu overtook him, that was pretty much it. Too bad, I wish he'd made Xu fight for every last point.

One thing's for sure, though. Dimitrij showed he could hold his own against China's finest. Can't wait to see him take on Ma Long and/or ZJK. I hope it happens soon.
