Hey, I play penhold too. My blade is Palio KC1 Novice (very light, slow, and flexible) and my rubbers are Friendship RITC 729 and Sriver G2-FX. I leave a 1 cm gap on the forehand. It allows to control the angle of the blade better, in my opinion. Also, it makes the grip section thinner, so it is easier to wrap my fingers around. I use the traditional block more though.

ah ah, i am interested about fun AND result ! In France, there is a lot of competitions, as you got a competition level, you will be playing competition, it becomes in a natural way.

A question, your two fingers thumband index are put on the bare wood or rubber ?

I rather like bare wood, it sounds better for traditional backhand, what do you think about it ?
( I am even trying to improve my backhand, it's my goal during summer holidays )

I have a gap between handle and the rubber on my forehand, and no gap on backhand. It feels more comfortable to grip with the gap, and make the racket slightly lighter too.
