Recently, someone asked me my opinion on the main differences between T05 and Tibhar Aurus. I replied with the following mini-review below. if you want the short answer why I switched from T05 on FH wing to Tibhar Aurus, read the last paragraph called SUMMARY.

Remember, this is MY Opinion, and it is not an absolute truth to everyone, just how I feel about it.

Enjoy.

Here is what I responded to the forum member...

Interesting you ask this as I USED to favor T05 on FH wing until the price became worse than a house payment. I am talking about performance on FH wing, NOT the BH wing.

I use regular Aurus with the same success. In short, there are many differences between both rubbers, but the end result for me is the same.

Bounciness - T05 is bouncier. Aurus is very stable.

Feel - T05 feels like the best rubber in the world on any stroke requiring 1/2 power or more. Aurus has a great feel. You know you will control the ball, especially incoming topspin or dead balls.

Hardness
- Aurus is a pretty hard rubber.

Topsheet
- T05 is very grippy, so is Aurus, but different. Aurus topsheet is very special, a new sheet is like supple, expensive fresh Italian leather.

Speed
- Top end speed is faster with Aurus. T05 has high arc and high spin that allows you to hit hard, but absolute speed it faster with Aurus.

Spin
- there are many different shots in the game and no one way to cover them all. T05 gives more spin on slower strokes. Aurus gives you a great balance of speed and spin. I can make very heavy spin with Aurus, that is my control.

Counters
- Aurus hits and counters better

Counterloop
- T05 is king of this with good spin. Aurus allows you to make a full swing and still land the ball with more pace.

Throw and arc
- T05 is a very high throw rubber. Loops must have a higher arc, but you can hit harder with T05 than most rubbers. Aurus has a medium throw that allows better countering close to the table, plus it allows you to hit harder and a little flatter than T05. Sometimes you want this for finishing shots. T05 is great at heavy spin that goes high, lands deep, then kicks severely. Aurus has less arc, but still a very powerful kick on the bounce.

Durability - T05 performance goes downhill in a hurry after 2 weeks of daily use. After 4 weeks, it is an average modern rubber and the sides are well deteriorated. This happens to all rubbers eventually, but T05 breaks apart really fast and it is only playable to me for 3 weeks maximum. Aurus can last for months. I usually change it out after 2 months of daily play 1-4 hours, but I can use it for 4 months if I really want to. I simply move the 2 month old sheet to a different bat I use at the Army camps.

Compatibility with different blades
- T05 goes very well with just about any ALL class speed blade and above regardless of composition. Aurus is very similar to this. many blades can use Aurus just fine. I have tested a dozen Nexy blades of different speed and composition, most of these had a sheet of Aurus on them. Aurus is very predictable and stable with many blades. Some rubbers are very blade dependent, like say Andro Rasant. I tried it out on a BTY composite blade and was un-impressed with it on FH, OK on BH, but not so well on FH. A club member gave me a lightly used sheet of Rasant 2.1, because coach told him he could not play with such a hard rubber so well, but told him I like hard sponged rubber for FH. I said I would try it on the ALL+ looping blade I use currently. (I will get a new TBS or a Nexy Arirang if they ever start producing them!) (Hint, NEXY, fire up the production line!) (I want my Arirang!) I tried out Rasant 2.1 on the FH wing and it was WOW. It had the same properties as Aurus on FH, but much a level faster in speed and spin was there to match it. Great on counterloops and great fast attack close to the table. That goes to show that some rubbers work best on only certain blades. Both T05 and Aurus work very well on a wide variety of blades successfully. You know what you get with either rubber.

Sensitivity to spin - T05 is very sensitive to spin on passive of slow speed strokes. Aurus is much less sensitive or reactive to spin in these situations. Using a 1/3 speed stroke or above, T05 controls the ball like no other. Aurus has excellent control across a wide range of strokes and speeds. It really performs in the mold of a speedier/spinier Sriver - a rubber with gears and feel on all strokes. Sriver of course is a very slow rubber by itself, but we all know its history and importance.

Destructiveness to opponents - T05 gets opponents with its ultra high arc, then ball falls off a cliff and kicks off into outer space. That troubles opponents. a LOT. Aurus is faster close to the table. The arc is lower and that allows a flatter finishing shot with excellent control. Ball still has great spin and kick. That still messes up a lot of opponents. I can counter with more confidence using Aurus. T05 feels like the best rubber on the planet for counterloops. Aurus does extremely well here and I can loop the loop from distance all day and night using Aurus. I do not misss much at all using Aurus in this situation.

Summary - My results are identical whether I use T05 or Aurus. Both rubbers have entirely different properties and play different. yet, there was not much of a transition to Aurus after using T05, not much at all for my style of play. I like to spin heavy and smash when the ball is high. I like to play close to the table, but sometimes drift back and duke it out. Aurus on both the TBS and the current ALL+ blade I am using until Nexy Arirang hits the street both play outstanding with Aurus and T05. At the end of the day, the difference is durability and cost. Aurus costs 1/2 the price of T05 and I can get that price discounted further. It is no comparison after living through this. Until the price of T05 becomes USD low $20s, I will never pay for T05 again. My results using Aurus are identical, the rubber lasts 2-3 times longer, and Aurus costs 1/2 the price.
