Can leaving it dry alone in the air actually cause damage, or is it just not reccomendable?

You don't need cleaners for your rubbers. Just use your hand and mist. Or wet your hand a little and wipe the rubber with your wet hand. Or use a sponge with a little water on it.

If you have a cleaner and you apply the cleaner, the reason to wipe it off is that that wiping it off is what cleans the rubber.

Like, to clean a counter top, you wouldn't spay a cleaner on and then just leave the cleaner to dry. You would wipe it off.

The chemicals in those rubber cleaners do cause the rubber to break down and deteriorate a little faster. It isn't something you should notice over a few months. But they don't really do anything to help and they are not the best thing for the rubber.

And I definitely wouldn't just spray the cleaner on and leave it to dry so the residue from the cleaner is still on the rubber. And it sounds like that is what you are asking about. Right?

Yeah that is exactly what I was asking, Well then, I won't use cleaner any more. Hope it didn't cause any harm already, because I left it on the rubber to dry out once without brushing it away (dumb, I know, really dumb).

Nah, one time is no big deal. Clean the residue off now. Just put water on one hand. Hold the racket with the other and wipe. Nothing really works any better than that.

Der_Echte likes using the sweat on his shirt. But that is because he has special bear fat in his sweat that boosts the topsheet. Hahahahaha.

Okay, if you didn't know, I'm joking. [emoji2]

BTW: I have this really cool PVC sponge that I got when I was starting out because I wanted something nice to clean my rubber. I still use it. And it is quite nice. But it is totally not necessary.
