Yes, as a country's overall strength improves, so do its athletes and fans in terms of self confidence, openness and more sports and less political(patriotism) oriented.
are you talking about Chinese table tennis team strengths improves, and the fans will become more open and more for sport and less for patriotism?

I mean the overall global influence in terms of economy, geopolitics and military. Chinese table tennis has been dominating for the last 30 years, yet, you can see different attitude between recent generations of Chinese players and their old ones. The new generation players are more relaxed, personable and charming. The change is not just limited to table tennis.
As the second superpower, sports are not needed as much as before as a way of raising the confidence of its people a well as the patriotism.

As I anticipated, Miwa couldn't get pass Chinese pits player He Zhuojia. So, the high flying teenager's growing pain continues.

Even though Japan has its own pits players in Kihara and Ito for Miwa to practice with, these two are attacking type with less consistency. He Zhuojia, on the other hand, is so consistent and her wall-like defense is hard to get through, especially for young players not used to this type of pits play.

Just like most high level topspin Chinese players can evetually handle He with relative ease, so will be Miwa.

Hm... I'm not sure if you are reading (and replying to) Tubrozed correctly (because there is a history to it)

he is saying, he likes the fans behavior in China Smash, that are neutral and will actually "cheer" for non Chinese players.

Chinese fans (especially in the recent Paris olympic games), has been an embarrassment in the news for the wrong reasons. They would only cheer for they hero and disrespect the opponent - even if that opponent/player is a Chinese player, including that of gold medal winning Chinese player.
This is already beyond that of country versus country, but of its hero vs the rest of the bunch.

I'm not sure if CTTA is trying to change this behavior, or have provided messages to guide the fans to be more civil.

I remember a while back there was a big WTT where LGL was given the mic to talk, but the fans in the background don't care and continue to make noises. LGL looked very pissed. Before he was given the mic, some other (non Chinese) delegate was speaking and there was even more noise. I saw him in the background trying to quieten down the crowd - and putting his finger to the mouth and telling them to shoosh.

Fan behavior does seem better in China Smash, which is good.
This is a fan cultural problem for a while and it has been getting worse over the decades.
I guess maybe you get TT fans, and then you get these fan boys club, that possibly aren't even TT people, and are only there for they hero.
End of the day, respect to the sport is required. This shows cultural maturity.

PS. to me it is some minority fandom club members that are leading the trouble. They are quite abusive if you turn against them. ie the Anti WCQ for the Pro WCQ crowds. It is crazy if you get in there way.

In-house fighting is happening on table 2 between Fan Siqi and Wang Yidi. Fan is taking game one. It will be an upset if she can take down Wang who has been playing good recently.

Fan's playing style like Sun Yingsha downgraded by 2, quick and smooth on both wings. Just not as powerful as Sun.

By 3:2, a very motivated Fan took down one of top women player in Wang Yidi.

A number of mini surprises so far. HZJ vs. Miwa (3-0), LWS vs QTY (3-2), FSQ vs WYD (3-2).

[Edit] I just noticed Polcanova beat Kihara 3-2 :(

Incidentally, HZJ and Miwa were actually teammates last season briefly before China pulled back all of their players (except Hao Shuai).

Ito lost 5 matchpoints against Batra and was only saved at the end by a netcord. Not a good sign.
Ito let her guard down, but she dominated Batra for most of the match. She has NXL in the next round. Mima has beaten NXL 3-0 in the 3 matches they've played.

One would never know it was a 3-0 bashing the way you describe it. Making it look easy can make natural struggles look problematic.

I won't miss the upcoming match between Sora and Truls. Truls is already established and Sora is rising rapidly. The winner of the two will very likely face Harimoto. I'd love to see Truls against Harimoto.

So far, the largest upset seems Harimoto's little sister Miwa as she was so hot entering the tournament. Unfortunately she bumped into the wall to many young players in He Zuojia. But, that's part of the growing price she has to pay.

Ito's fast and hard hitting style is hard for our beloved granny to handle. Plus, Ito has no problem with Ni's pits.
Another 3:0 in store for Ito.
