A day later and I can cough strongly again without excruciating pain.

There is one more day of rest until Monday Russian Church TT... and there will be a large turn-out I think.

Will test it out there, so maybe this is only a few days or week setback. might have gotten lucky, but Fri and Sat it was simply killing me.
Don't move
Just enjoy this:

Just enjoy this:

She looks to be moving very slow but she is probably tired from a long multi-ball session. I am always gun-ho the first five minutes of multi-ball then I slowwwwww down considerably. My coach wants me to build up my endurance. I am like, no, I am ok. I don't want to run on the treadmill or anything. :) :)

Depending on the feed, serious feed, holding 5 mins is pretty impressive.
Especially doing two wide angle forehands.

Look at the time, it was 20:20 or so. So it was about 3 hours in afternoon and getting close to 2 more hours in the evening by then.

Wore sandals at Church today and moved around a LOT, legs and butt are wore down tired.

Did not play any singles, just doubles. Could breath 70%+ of capacity before big pain, so much better.

Prolly won't play again until Friday Russian Church. maybe won't feel it so bad then.

Hey guys in the Vietnam area,

I just ordered a piece of black Tenergy 64 from Vietnam using Shopee. It cost USD 62.00 inc shipment. It is cheaper by USD 5.00 when compared to my country.

Is this a reasonable price in Vietnam? Could it be a fake? What do you guys think? The seller is Goldsport21866. Anyone in Vietnam knows this seller?

I saw Tenergy for sales on Aliexpress for $15. I am like it is fake. When I read the review, I cannot believe some people actually bought it and left review that it is fake. I mean, what do you expect? $15 for Tenergy?

But $62 for Tenerg in Vietnam? That sounds legit.

Thank you my friend for sharing the info.

If you ever consider using ESN rubber in the future, I do recommend Donic brand as that is the cheapest ESN rubber, at least where I live.

Had two good practice sessions this week. Mainly focused on working on the split-step to cover my FH side. I've used Seth Pech's video as a reference on how I train in the gym and it's helping me out a lot on the footwork side. Doing heavy squats/and going to about 60% of my max on sumo deadlifts every 3rd week + adding some elements of that video I linked has been proving pretty beneficial for me. Getting a lot lower in my stance has been the biggest factor in my improvement.

One thing that I'd like to work on is to not blind myself with my paddle when getting backhand returns in the short to half-long range. I've lost a lot of easy returns from this.

Sharing video of yourself, especially on a thread like the video safe footage thread, is highly recommended if you aren't getting formal coaching.

It is awesome that you are doing physical training which always helps though it is unlikely to be the biggest factor in your TT improvement for a while.

Learning proper movement early is also helpful as it makes your strokes easier to connect as you develop your game. A lot of it is situation specific so you will need to revisit the connections as you get better.

But by far and away the biggest thing is the ability to hit a quality topspins against a wide variety of balls, be able to push short backspin reliably and to be able to block attacks confidently.

I have not hit a TT ball in almost a week now. I feel better that I hit on Friday last week or i would have been a complete mess. Right now I am an incomplete mess. Next time I am on a vacation like this, I will make sure there is TT somewhere or I will tell my wife I ain't going. TT is that addictive lol.

On the TT front. I am going to build more aggressive recovery into my shadow footwork drills. I stopped doing the drills because of my knees but I will just do them more slowly with taichi control. Watching people do well at Nationals had made me greedier. Hopefully it will come back to fort worth next year and I will play. Though I suspect I might play regardless.

But now, I will be training to play in the Teams in DC.

Telling. and GOOD (to me.)

This is even better. One should have a major tourney goal to work towards and peak for it.

I agree with this assessment, but it's a night and day difference in how low I can get and stay and cover ground. The guy that's helping me train is trying to get me to understand movement and positioning. I think the training I'm doing off of the table has enabled me to cover the lateral movement short and mid-range.

Might do league play later this month and get some video from it.

So I played today to release the pentup desire to hit the ball again. The results of not playing for a week were interesting.

So I play the first match a close 0‐3 to a guy who often plays tacky rubber on both sides and counters my heavy spin with venomous counters and punches. I had been trying to decide what technique to use and I had originally settled on full arm swings with salutes but since i play upright, this creates high arcing balls.

Then I went to a practice table and started hitting my heavy low trajectory topspin. The challenges with this stroke are that it is very different from my usual stroke so I don't know how to combine the techniques. When I mix them up, I loop the ball off the table. But for someone who is used to my usual game, the low trajectory topspins off the bounce are faster and frustrating and the lack of arc (created by using side of the ball contact) as well as the ball movement when the ball is slower creates a lot of errors. But once I add my upper arm, I make the errors myself so I can't I thrm as instinctively as I would like. But the lack of arc makes it my best counter spin stroke, especially vs the high heavy topspin ball.

I got to practice this against a guy who I suspect was significantly lower rated but hit low trajectory topspins as well and we countered each other for like 20 minutes. It was a lot of fun and it helped me see that I could hit really powerful topspins with thick contact and that my regular motion is probably too conservative and I need to find a good space in my game for this stroke.

While it is easier to block if I do it to an opponent that is waiting, it also is often untouched and my regular topspin doesnt usually have that effect

I then won my rematches 3‐1 and won another 2 matches 3-0 and 3-1. The joke became that I travelled to train and I was really playing while on vacation :ROFLMAO:. But I think the next step is to video these strokes and then figure out how to select them appropriately to vary my TT attacks on demand.

Finally I hired a coach close to my level but whose ball quality I believe is sufficient for me to get what I need. I mostly need to work on using my off the bounce topspin strokes to quick counter heavy topspin. This should enable me to get the practice I need.

The pulled muscle on back rib ultimately turned out to be a grade one tear right next to a nerve, so good news is now no pain and no new injuries from coughing and sneezing... which I still do, but nowhere near as violently as a week ago.

Played a set of Tennis in AM and a 5 hour session with 3 people (including Der_Echte) practicing mostly how to move in doubles with many Australian style Singles vs Doubles squad... we all alternated and nearly every time, the one on the Singles side won.

Was good to play without pain and the other dude I coach cons9stently FH flipped 3rd dude's serves really wide and I was always off to the races with explosive cross step to get to them and attack back.

I better take sum Magnesium.

So this I suspect is what I am doing (strokes 3 and 4 at the end of this video) but I need to record it. And because I stand upright, I need to minimize upper arm movement or the ball goes long. And mine seems to have a lot of sidespin when I slow it down lol...
