Damn, I need a bandsaw.

You don't even need a scalpel. Those small cutter knives (not by any table tennis brand, those are bad) that are made of metal do the job well and I don't even have to change the blade each cut, but every 10-20.

No one needs a scalpel, it's just that a scalpel does the job better than others, and is relatively cheap. Also, the blades of a scalpel needs changing because it is extra sharp, thus extra thin, sharpness and durability is a tradeoff I'm willing to take.

Yes, this happens if the blade is not ultra sharp - as in brand new.

if it isn't ultra sharp, it will look terrible.

normally after 1 or 2 cuts, the blades is no longer ultra sharp.

harder sponges/topsheets tend to blunt the blade more than softer rubbers, or at least that is more experience over the years (glued over 1000 bats)

Not for me, because I have a TT gluing workstation box, all my tools for gluing go in there.

I'm gonna back my sclapel's friends up here, but with window scraper blades and soap indeed, I've been using razor blades since last year and it's damn efficient and long lasting, only 1 blade can last for 8 to 10 rubbers when used properly with soap. I've used them for ages when I was a pro window cleaner (the window scraper), I use the Unger Trim 10 with Unger blades.

with a top quality , sharp pair of scissors one can cut a rubber very well and it looks nearly as good as cut with a blade IF YOU ARE RIGHT HANDED !!!!!
Us lefties have problems , Top quality scissors are rarely made for lefties and cutting rubbers with right- hander -scissors is a real pain in the Arse,

That is fair. I have used a left handed scissor with my right hand and it is truly annoying.

I use a 18mm snap off blade utility knife and it does a good job if I'm careful about applying pressure evenly against the edge of the racket to make sure the cut is flush but that is a pain the ass to get right. It also helps if you have a setup that allows you to rotate the racket on a raised cutting surface. That bandsaw setup seems to allow one to cut both sheets of rubber all at once. Might be just the thing if you already own a bandsaw.

The blade he uses has no teeth - smooth surface like a utility knife or a scalpel. He only cuts one rubber at a time, but the cut ist perfect.

Personally I use a pair of good scissor and am satisfied with the outcome. But I couldn't care less if the cut isn't perfect...

i get it, but of course if it hasn't got any teeth on the blade it is a bandknife not a bandsaw
