What is the difference between h3, h3-50, h8, h8-80? also what is the 50 and 80 sponge?

I felt H8 is a bit bouncier and more forgiving than H3 but has less grab and lower potential for spin. H3-50 and H8-80 both have softer porous type sponges made to be bouncier and easier to use for backhand than the #20 orange and #22 blue variants, but the #50 sponge is older/lower tech and less dynamic than the #80 sponge.

Topsheet: H3 is harder than H8. H3 has a higher max power.
Sponge: normal H3 has the dense traditional Chinese sponge. #50 sponge has large spores = more lively. But #50 sponge only goes up to 37 degree, hence BH rubber.
#80 has even larger pores and is really fast. #80 goes up to 38 degree. On a hard blade, you can use H8-80 on FH.

At the same hardness H8 feels harder for sure. But H8 grips the ball better and has better spin. The #80 sponge has less dwell time, hence results in a higher speed but less spin.

It depends on your game.

I have played 09C, 8-80 38 degree and H8 40 on BH. So I can’t really compare H8 with 09C.

But H8-80 has less dwell time than 09C, less spin, and surprisingly the topsheet lost tack much faster than H8. My 09C is still tacky after 18 months.

Personally if you get a H8 at 37 degree it will behave like Hybrid.

H8 does not play like D09c. It's really different, especially unboosted. Unboosted, H8 is still closer to H3 than to D09c. If you boost the H8, it becomes very fast, so in that sense you might compare it to D09c. But the rubber material and feeling is still very different to D09c. The rubber feeling is distinctly hurricane, but it is much faster than boosted H3.

H8-80 is also nothing like tensor hybrid. It has very low catapult, and the topsheet is Chinese tacky rather than Euro tacky. It requires boosting to become fairly fast. Even then, the feeling is nothing like tensor. The feeling is closer to the 37d versions of Hurricane.

I play FH most of the time, maybe it matters?
