German forum is not happy to say the least, i might have to pull a zeio and translate some comments 😁
Or just link to the forum thread and let people enjoy the carnage with Google translate. No one cares about casual opinions on a foreign forum but for something as impactful to the German league as this, it's quite reasonable to hear some Germans lol. Someone was pointing out that Ochsenhausen can't be happy with Hugo leaving the team/league and then going to Saarbrucken, and now it will be interesting to hear how people feel about Duesseldorf scheming to regain its glory. At least Saarbrucken still has a plan B if they retain Moregardh and Franziska to go with Hugo and I suspect they will get a strong #3 for Domestic. But in all fairness, without Boll's magic, there would have been no competition for Saarbrucken. Kanak might need to find another team to get playing time.

Here you go, it's a general transfer thread for this season, i linked to the page where the FZD news starts though.

To also sum it up a bit for anyone who doesn't want to dive in with translators, it's mostly people being tired of decades of Düsseldorf dominance combined with an arrogance they carry that also came through in statements on this transfer again. Like their manager Andreas Preuß saying: "Düsseldorf is simply the center of the table tennis world in Germany. That's why, given our standards, a player like that belongs here." But also Timo with: "His move to Düsseldorf is a logical step. Because this is where the heart of table tennis beats"

It's true Saarbrücken would've been with little competition at the moment, but that's seen as rather deserved for pulling off this bold move of actually getting FZD to Germany. They aren't the biggest club and haven't won that much yet, especially in TTBL. People would've wanted Düsseldorf to strengthen in ways which elevates the league further, not pulling Saarbrücken back down and profiting from their efforts.

I know quite some people here that really only care about the league besides maybe the national team events. For them WTT is just an annoyance disrupting the league calendar where you hope to not miss a player on matchday lol
