Came across this wonderful but simple explanation on how a regular inverted setup works by the US National team coach Stefan Feth ... thought this might help answer a lot of questions a lot of people have when they come to the forum ...

Der_Echte would bottom out a sponge as soft as T05 in 1.7 and my FH is not mostly a crusher...

I would say so
I would go with max, or 1 down in terms of sponge thickness, not 2 down
Also, statistically, 2 down is rarely sold - or atleast from the brands I deal with

The hyperbolic examples, such as paddle with glue and paddle like a cannon, or the paper thin sponge vs the foot thick sponge, really help you not only conceptualize the principles, but also recall the correct behavior for given scenarios.

It becomes more about intuition and less about memorization.

Hard rubbers may store more energy potentially, but they also simply resist compression more.

I can bottom out the softer rubbers in Max on BH, not the medium sponges.

I bottom out Xiom Omega5 Asia 2.0 mm on a very stiff and hard blade.No bottoming with softer and more flexy blades.
