in recent years i played only once a guy who tried to play a lobbing game against me. It was in a tournament, it was a young player, and supposed to be better than I. I think if he played his normal attacking game he would have beaten me. But my smash is rather good, and i also had a bit of luck with edges and net. It was quite difficult to finish the point even the guy was just good at it, but not VERY good.

I believe it must be a real pain in the ass to play Adam or good lobbers. Once a guy like Adam has got his first lob all right, its really difficult to find a flaw as you can see in his videos. He gets back everything

Tracking a lob is a pain in the butt. My smashing game is above average but my movement is below average. Smashing is best. But unless a lobber is an all round offensive player, it is always best to start by forcing them to pop up the ball or play close to the table on terms that they do not choose. Rallies are always 50-50. You should always look for the advantage on the first 4 shots of the point and for me, slow heavy topspin to the forehand works best because most people who lob cannot play a quality block with their forehand. This gives you more options than a backhand block or pop-up. Always start the play from the forehand side unless the lobber has a strong forehand loop.
