I can't play table tennis when the opponent is humiliating himself and talks to himself just to get some magical powers. Are they mentally ill?

In absolute terms, it's a form of disrespect.
Self-disrespect, sure, I'll give you that. But unless you start taking over the venue by shouting at yourself, or throwing stuff, how is this a problem for the opponent?
If anything, it's great for them to know you're distressed and pointing out your weaknesses out loud...

I would suggest that rather than focusing on your opponents behavior, be engrossed in your tactics and remembering your plan. If you are getting too much bothered by your opponents behavior or chit chat then you are losing focus on your next steps or your tactics. Keep breathing deeply and keep your focus on the next point. Take mental notes on the mistakes and workarounds around those. Keep revising it and keep formulating your plan. Any plan to approach a match is fluid thing, it keeps transforming as your opponent adjusts to your tactics. So keep your focus only on your adjustments and how you envision your next point.
hahaha, hahaha, hahahahahaha. Woody Woodpecker sounding off and agreeing with @KM1976 assessment.

KM just politely called OP a snowflake.

lol alain is a troll i'm pretty sure based on their posts here and elsehwere
Der_Echte STRONGLY disagrees with Alain's opinion in this matter, but that doesn't by itself make him a troll, it makes him different from me... which I agree is good.

@passifid I like a lot of what you post and I am in the same boat (I am often harshly criticizing those who disagree with me), but here, I would judge that Alain is expressing his opinion good or bad.

not just this thread but when he is complaining a lot about pips players but then replied about how he actually likes playing them. I'm not convinced. he often posts very unusual opinions in the last few days but then when queried makes an unusual dismissal of it.
Maybe it's real but its giving real igor vibes, not quite some of the stuff we have had over the years but i think he just posts contrarian opinions for fun.

I mean "does fair play still exist" on the concept that people complain when they miss, this s the same in the 90s with leyton hewitt, the 200s with nadal, 2010s with murray etc. its so obvious that its strange to pretend it never happened

What's the problem? I like playing against long pips. But they're so easy to modify, and there are cheaters... But thankfully, not all players cheat...

We are adults playing competitive amateur TT. Of course we are somewhere between mildly crazy and mentally ill, yourself included, talking to yourself or not.

Yup agree totally.

Amateur / Part time office-worker aka salariiman trying to play competitively a sports that NASA has classified as super difficult for fun. We are all a little cuckoo.

Must we all express the same vision of our sport? Is there only one direction in this forum, only one direction to follow? I have my doubts.
