Why is frictionless longpip banned by the way?
Is it THE ULTIMATE RUBBER ?
Frictionless long pips are easier to use with a simple technique.
But, to be fair they should have banned anti too.
....
Regular long pips are also easy to use with simple technique to good effect, so what's the problem ?
'I heard the theory that with a new plastic ball the pips gained some advantage, especially SP or LP blocking near the table.
Because of this, top level players who use pips have recently risen in the world rankings.
Example with SP:
Mima Ito WR7
FALCK Mattias WR12
At least half Japanese women-players from Top-50 playing with pips.
LP blocking:
NI Xia Lian WR48
BATRA Manika WR51
We also have to pay attention that these are all players who started playing in childhood with an old celluloid ball and most likely with other rubbers.
If a player from early childhood begins to play with a new plastic ball and with pips at the same time, and this ball will no longer change at least 15 years, then it will probably reach very high results.
As an example, in Russia there is a girl who from the very beginning plays with plastic and long pips, and now, by her age (12 years), she is number 1 in the country.
https://youtu.be/CfaLFchRtk8?t=1060 - check from moment 17:40, A.Ivanova plays against her opponents 3 years older than her and eventually takes 3rd place in Nikitin Open tournament at this older age. I will follow her career with interest.
Yes. The main problem for blockers is to return ball back to the other side of the table after opponent attack with very fast ball. But i am interested in the theory about how the plastic ball is good for long pimple blockers? because players are looping a little slower with this ball?
It is hard to develop a long pip chopping style because it takes specialized kind of training and also the amount footwork and control against a strong attacking style.
The long pips push blockers with a great attacking 4h are the ones causing the big upsets of top players.
Yes. The main problem for blockers is to return ball back to the other side of the table after opponent attack with very fast ball.
Deception and backspin is the secondary, not the main target.
Women playing not so fast balls as man.
Plastic not so fast as celluloid.
So now we can see some women-blockers on the top level.
It is in the theory, I'm not sure that this is all true.

But with less deception and especially backspin it is easier for the opponent to do harder loops against the pushblocker so it is more difficult for them now to return the ball back. This goes hand in hand and is the same for all playing styles. If you play to easy, it will be easy for the opponent because they know more what is coming and it will be harder for you to put the ball back safe.
Yes. But deception and backspin is not the only way to get opponent in troubles. I don't know right English term, in Russia, we say something like "play in the perfect right place and time".
