3rd singles is not any easier to handle given the expectation to win with certainty. Hirano has done her job well and very consistently.

Keep in mind JPN lost to KOR 1-3 in MT QF at ATTC 2024, where Togami was in poor form (yet again) and lost to JWJ 1-3, then Shinozuka and Harimoto fell to OJS and JWJ 2-3, respectively. In the 5th-6th match, Harimoto said he was under the weather and didn't expect to be fielded but still got fielded by Tasei, barely edging out HKG 3-2. Therefore, JPN still largely depends on Harimoto. Matsushima is still immature and inconsistent as I told you 11 days ago. Togami is a dead weight. Shinozuka/Tanaka/Uda should've been cultivated more when they had the chance for occasions like this.

For MS, Togami and Shinozuka barely edged out Gerassimenko and Alamiyan at ATTC 2024. Therefore, the potential of upset has always been there.
