Bruna gets her continental boost, but at least she's significantly improving. She dominates Manika to move into KO. Well done.
Bruna did extremely well there! Manika is not easy to beat.

I think Bruna has definitely improved recently.
She won't threaten the top players but I hope she'd give anyone a decent game right now.

Congrats to Harimoto, sad to see HYZ go. Does anyone know, if they tied 2-2, who would’ve gone through?

He was leading 3-0 then lost the last game. Again he wasn’t playing serious for the last game since he already won the match and moves on to knockout stage by default by the time he won third game

That's a horrible end to the game.

Good sportsmanship from both players still.

Dima is genuinely an all time European GOAT. Still getting into R016 at the age of 36 - 13 years after he won his first Bronze.

This feels terribly unfair on LYJ. I wish the top placed runners up in the group could go to a 5 set preliminary at least.

The current group system isn't right.

World Cup 2017 holder > World Cup 2019 2nd-runnerup. LYJ out.

LYJ was robbed. If it touched (and Dima did acknowledge it), then point is over and LYJ wins the game. Weak umpire.
No, the let is the let and the let came before the point was completed. You don't call let and take it back when you win the point.

Dima has a really strong mental like he’s stable in tough situation. I haven’t seen their (dima vs Lyj) match today but for some reasons this remind me of their Olympic bronze medal match.

I went back to the video, and I didn't hear any umpire call a let. Only thing I saw was the umpire pointing to edge.

Dima had every right to a let as well if you actually watched the video. Let's not make this about what the umpire called or did not call. Lin clearly called it, and if he had missed, it would have been a replayed point.

I know she only managed a 2-2 tie but I was extremely impressed by Lily Zhang's improvement against choppers here.

Just a couple years ago the scoreline would've been a 0-4 wide loss. Really speaks to a lot of hours on the table practicing against that style. Good job to Lily.

She also got a game off of male chopper Mathieu De Saintilan in MLTT so she definitely improved vs. choppers.
