Standing up for England TT equipment
..........James, so what TT equipment is made in England or UK... .......
...............
For most of TT history English made and designed equipment dominated. Remember, Leyland rubber, Barna bats etc.
For rubbers, the dominant player was the English company, Dunlop. They owned the rubber plantations, rubber (tyre) factories and were the makers of the rubber topsheet and sponges for several TT brands. I don't know what happens these days as 'rubbers' are now largely synthetic.
I suspect that they still supply the basic topsheet and sponge raw material to several TT manufacturers.
I got this several years ago from a knowledgeable poster on About.com.
However, is Dunlop still an English owned company? The owners today are probably Asian.
