I suspect the reason Matsushima is not in Lima is that the crazy rules restricting entries are back in effect. Good luck getting to LA 2028, Sora!
The field for LA 2028 will be far more contested. It's still early to tell how competitive it will be, but there are at least 5 more up-and-coming players besides Harimoto.
Continuing from where I left off (11/12/2022 at 3:52am):
Hirano (2000/4/14)
Hayata (2000/7/7)
Ito (2000/10/21)
Nagasaki (2002/6/15)
Yokoi (2004/4/23)
Odo (2004/5/16)
Kihara (2004/8/3)
AOKI Sachi (2007/4/10)
MENDE Rin (2007/12/31)
TAKEYA Misuzu (2008/4/17)
TAKAMORI Mao (2008/5/15)
Harimoto (2008/6/16)
OJIO Yuna (2008/7/5)
Where Yokoi, Odo, Takamori and Aoki are affiliated to Shitennoji and Miki House. Given Yokoi's and Odo's zero international activities in 2022 and 2023, whereas Takamori had been playing weekly for the most part since May, 2023 and Aoki started playing again in Nov, 2023, I get the impression that both Yokoi and Odo will be passed over in the next cycle, much like Nagasaki and Kihara.
they are very good players but they know they can't make it to OG, and even getting a spot to WTTC is very tough for themOdo Satsuki will probably play in Panagyushte...
It's a shame that Hashimoto and Sato play so little...
Don't worry, @zeio will soon run JNT and shake things up and they will get their chance...they are very good players but they know they can't make it to OG, and even getting a spot to WTTC is very tough for them
they had all their chances. they participated in the internal trials and never got far.Don't worry, @zeio will soon run JNT and shake things up and they will get their chance...
Yes, but the JTTA is too short sighted, the big picture is that China struggles vs pips and defense so they need to use the defenders while China still has this issue.they had all their chances. they participated in the internal trials and never got far.

I probably should have made a thread for Feeder Muscat but decided against it because worldtabletennis.com has been mostly inaccessible for me. But I want to give a shout out to Sakura Yokoi for coming back down 0-2 to beat Fan Shuhan in the QF. The quarterfinal stage featured 6 Chinese players plus Sakura Yokoi and Andrea Todorovic (who lost). Sakura was actually up 7-0 in game 2 but choked it. The Japanese coach could not detect the momentum swing that was so obvious. It really ended up Yokoi with a bit better consistency and battling for every point. In MS, 7 of the 8 quarterfinalists were from China with Yoshiyama facing Wen Ruibo. At the end, Yoshiyama imposed his very fluid game and Wen Ruibo got passive.
