Yokoi does it!! She repeated Hashimoto's performance by taking down 4 CNT players in a row: 3-1 Wang Xiaotong, 3-2 Fan Shuhan, 3-1 Qin Yuxuan, and 3-0 Yang Yiyun.

Grim future for East Asia in MS, playing like Europe from a decade ago.

Rankings update for Yokoi and Yoshiyama's fine performances at Feeder Muscat:
Yokoi 78 -> 56
Yoshiyama 113 -> 87
Both are listed in the Main Draw at Contender Almaty.

With Yokoi's WTT Feeder title, that makes 3 NP Mallets teammates that have won WTT titles this year: Odo, Hashimoto, and Yokoi. Sato came really close, but she was beaten in the finals at Feeder Cappadocia by her teammate Satsuki Odo. Good to see the team investing in player development.

its a bit sad to not see the Miyus playing double together anymore.

I don't get the Miwa + Kihara pair.
Kihara isn't playing singles. It would have made more sense to let the leftie Nagasaki play with Miwa IMO if you really want to Miwa to play doubles.

The doubles pairs will be at Contender Almaty. But it's a problem of having so much depth in Japan. Odo/Yokoi have won 4 doubles titles in 2024. I think the rationale behind Miwa/Kihara is that they beat SYS/WMY at the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023) at the QF stage before losing to JJH/SYB in the SF:

Catching up.

Nakazawa Rui/Wang Rui and Zhang Cheng reflected on Hirano 3-4 SYB after reviewing the match footage. The crux lied in Hirano's chiquita on her 2 match points. She forced the 1st one, which ended up hitting the net. She eased on the 2nd one, and the soft return invited a 3rd-ball loopkill.

For G1, SYB used slow balls to disrupt Hirano's pace but Hirano waited too long and missed the timing to attack. For G2, after being pinpointed in the middle and missing a ton, Hirano should've used the step-around FH on 1 or 2 points to change the flow.

Those are exactly the 2 issues Harimoto reflected on for WTTC 2023.

Exactly. Her push return worked out so well at 9-9 forcing a weak opening from Shin which she could counter. Defaulting to chiquita TWICE was a fatal error, but understandable given the occasion. I think Hirano herself realised it immediately after the match. She said she 'fell back to old patterns' in her post-match interview.

Hayata should step aside. Assuming one month preparation she would have to start training around now, doesn't seem like enough time to recover from her severe injury. Looks like JNT are testing out Odo to see if she can break into the main team. Miwa, Odo + Hayata for 2028?

She will have to fight hard for her spot regardless. Personally I don't see Hirano and Ito making it unless they can unlock their super saiyan form for one last time. If Odo continues on her current trajectory and one more person rises up, Hayata could be in danger too. Although given her personality, she will probably stick around until the bitter end and then some, making her similar to... Ishikawa. But this is all conjecture at the end of the day. New and proper Olympic cycle means a fresh start for everyone.

Yea I know, I was referring to the fact that they signed her up for WD and XD. If they didn't want to groom her they wouldn't have bothered arranging doubles pairings for her (see Miyu Kato).

Also interesting how Odo's name comes before Ito's in both singles and team listings.

Hayata should be safe for 2028
speaking about ishikawa, zeio been calling her to retire since he appeared on ttd and he felt like a champion when she eventually retired

Assuming Hayata fully recovers from injury, I think she's either number 1 or 2 by 2028. She completely dominated the Paris trials. She also currently dominates Miwa, though that could change in the next 4 years which is why I think Hayata could fall to number 2. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to see others like Odo step up, but they've got a long way to go to reach Hayata.

Yes barring injury Hayata is a sure bet

Yeah, that's quite revealing as Ito's name should've come first because qualification by WR is listed before the selection trial in the selection criteria.
