OTOH, despite 0-3 Kihara, Hirano touted her win over SYS, boasting "no way. I'm strong too, right?" LOL

[Table Tennis] Miu Hirano, despite her defeat, remains positive, saying "I was able to challenge myself." While surprised by the strength of China's Sun Yingsha at the World Table Tennis Championships, she asks, "Wait a minute. I've beaten her (in the past)?"... Asian Championships Selection Tournament

[Table Tennis] Miu Hirano loses to Miyu Kihara, but gains valuable experience. Last season was a disappointment, but "being able to challenge myself is a good thing."

[Table Tennis] Miu Hirano: "It's frustrating, but..." Despite a crushing defeat to Miyu Kihara, she maintains a cheerful expression: "It was good that I took on the challenge."
https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/202605260001011.html
I don't know what Hirano's aspirations are, but if LA2028 is her goal, I'm afraid that that window is either closing real fast or has already closed. Although this year's ranking results won't count towards the Olympic rankings points race, you really need to be in contention by the end of the year to be within the entry limits of high value tournaments ... ideally top 4 which is the national entry limit for WTT Champions events. She's skipping Contenders Skopje and Zagreb and pinning her June ranking points on SC Ljubljana. But it's good that she has a positive attitude despite the lack of results. Don't need any added pressure.

Baba said no special treatment for missing the selection trial since they'd been warned beforehand.

Low chance for Hashimoto to win a selection trial anyway so that gamble makes sense for her. But can Japan really say they're sending their strongest team to ATTC 2026 and WTTC 2027 without her? Hmm...

Hashimoto will likely qualify by WR, therefore taking part in the selection trial is more or less in response to what happened to Odo. Don't take it for granted.

Togami, Uda and Shinozuka will likely be forced to retire after LA28, whether they make the team or not. Ideally, Harimoto and Matsushima will be the 2 MS players plus Kawakami if things go well and JTTA doesn't shoot itself in the foot.

Oshima 3-4 Kawakami (9, -9, -3, 8, 6, -6, -7)
A pretty impressive year for Kawakami. There's a chance we won't see Togami at LA28.

As many Tieba users expected, KAWAKAMI Ryuusei is performing well but he will likely be another Harimoto, holding out for a real teammate.

Would like some video of that Shinozuka match. Either Kawakami wins the whole thing or Shinozuka just isn’t as stable as his form sometimes suggests.

Uda Y. got Miyu N. pregnant, or so I know. Her family wasn't happy. I don't know the details and what happened after.
This is totally unforgivable!

To be honest, Uda has that James Dean bad boy vibe and traditionally nice girls are attracted to bad boys like iron to magnet.

The big takeaway is Kawakami knows how to counter lefties.
