Hi everyone
I'm a player from Belgium, ranked around 90th, I think (which is +- 40th in England and also +- 40 in the Netherlands, and around 400 in France I believe). I am an attacking player with my forehand over all of the table, but I also like far away from the table backhand and opening up from time to time with the backhand. I have Timo Boll ALC as a blade, Tenergy 05 in the forehand and Rakza 7 (which serves as a cheaper Tenergy 05) in the backhand. Now, my backhand doesn't satisfy me. In training I love my backhand loops, but in competition it is useless, because I run around all the time (which I cannot stop to do, I have tried many many times). Just when lobbing my backhand is really satisfying, because the counter attack is not very hard.
I am absolutely crap in blocking with my backhand and counter hitting (in a match, because in exercices it is a bit easier). I played with a friend's blade 2 weeks ago and it suddenly was so easy, as if I did it already for years. He had Butterfly Bryce Speed in the backhand. Now, I would like to buy that rubber (actually a cheaper alternative Joola express one), but I am afraid that topspinning will be a disaster, and I would still like to be able to spin with my backhand when in a rally and forced 2 meters from the table, then hitting the ball will not be very effective.
Anyone has an idea what is a good middleground? Great for blocking and counter hitting, but still with a decent ability to loop and a high enough throw, because that of butterfly bryce speed was a VERY low throw with little spin. But I liked the blocking and counter hitting so much, so I would like to have a good middle ground!
Thanks in advance!
