making of an all-wood table tennis blade

guys im back but this time its not making but fixing lol
so my coach has this really reaaally old butterfly gergely blade which has the hinoki top ply 60% taken off ( the carbon layers are showing ) and he asked me to try to fix it . so my problem is that ive never worked with cf , i guess ill use cedar which is the european hinoki but i dont know how many mm should i put and i dont know if carpenter wood would work with carbon or not ?
he wants it to play the same after the restoring .
what do you guys advice me ?

Don't worry about carbon fiber it can be cut or brushed like wood. But you have to use Epoxy resin ... Just apply a thin layer and get rid of not necessary resin with something like creditcard. Try to find a epoxy resin which do not need to be heat handled and can dry at room temperature.
Top ply has to be normal between 0.6 - 1 mm thick and if you want to find a good replacement look at the janka hardness table to get as close as possible.

what do you mean by cutting or brushing the carbon fiber ?
and then i just press it ?

With cutting or sanding of the carbon you have not to be woried... It is the same process as you apply to wood..... Just sand it slightly to you have straight layer on top , then apply thin layer of epoxy and after the top ply and press it.... Be carefull with pressure to awoid damaging the core ply. But this only apply when you have balsa or something soft as it for core ply..... Thumbs up.
