could you compare moon blue to rxton 3 blue? very different?
I never got the Rxton 3 blue or pink.

But if I remember correctly, Longle or somebody else told me they felt Moon 12 was bouncier or faster, and that's why I chose that one over Rxton 3 blue/pink.

I don't like the Rxton 1, 1 plus, 3, 3 pink, 3 plus, whatever naming convention. It confuses me and I have no idea what's going on.

But according to @mattlamperouge rubber matrix, Rxton 1 and Rxton 3 blue use a similar "K-type" sponge, so I recently got a Rxton 1 for $5 just to see if it boosts well. But in fact it didn't boost well at all. Anybody else tried boosting Rxton 3 blue/pink and how does it react?

the sponges of Rxton 1 and Rxton 3 Pink (sponge looks the same as blue) look and feel different. They maybe different generations/variants of the same series. Never boost neither of them though, but Rxton 3 Pink sponge feels like small pore cake sponge. Rxton 5's sponge look really similar to traditional orange Chinese rubber sponge so that so boost well.

Moon 12 rebound is similar to D09c and probably similar rebound to Rozena or something.

How about Rxton 3 pink? How much rebound does it have compared to other common rubbers?

I've played with both Rxton 3 Blue (unboosted) and Moon Blue (medium soft so ymmv).

R3 felt harder with a stuffer topsheet. I measured it at 52d (Moon was 46d). The flat hitting and driving felt powerful when the sponge was engaged but it was like an on/off binary clicking sensation. When hit hard it sounded like a firecracker.

But the top sheet was so stiff and I didn't get a feeling of the ball sinking into the rubber. It was like, an abrasive feeling rather than a gripping feeling against the ball. I couldn't get much spin on my FH loops unless I made very big strong movements.

Here's another review of R3 blue that I found and I agree with the author's take. I might wind up boosting it one day to see if it makes it easier to play.

Which one has more catapult or speed on the BH side?

I dont think its the same sponge based on reviews and experiencies here and other sites, i take the Matrix only as a loose reference of style of sponge, hardnees, tackyness etc. since the experiences of users differ of the datasheet quite a bit.

If i didnt read wrong @Tony's Table Tennis boosted His Rxton 3 pink.

It is not very bouncy. It feels like a less tacky Rxton 5 with softer sponge and tough-ish topsheet (that seems to be most new color rubbers). That's why I put it on FH.

what does "pop on contact" mean?

But if Moon has more catapult, then I'm glad I picked that one.
Honestly, it's hard to describe since it's the only rubber I've played that has this effect. If you hit the ball hard and engage the sponge, it makes a loud crack sound and the ball gets a noticeable boost of speed. But the dwell time is very minimal and it doesn't feel like it sinks into the rubber much at all.

Yeah, it doesn't sound super appealing to me if its not bouncy.

Why is everybody so in love with this rubber then?

For me, it is one of the very few new colour rubber that I could play on FH. Most new colour rubbers seem to be designed for BH, which may have more bounce, but too soft and non-tacky for my FH preference.

Once in a blue moon, the stars align to make a great rubber. Yinhe Moon Blue 12 may just be that rubber. I tested the H- version, which feels about 53d esn. This might have felt too hard for me, but in recent months I have been well acquainted with hard bh rubbers.

I had high hopes for the 8th generation of Yinhe rubbers. Several reviews had called the 8th generation yinhe brother Moon Speed 53 on par with Vega Asia. This would be a fine achievement given the price. In my opinion, Moon 12 absolutely is on par with the likes of Vega and maybe even the popular G1.

First, this is a fast rubber. It feels like a genuine modern sponge, although it doesnt have that satisfying porous esn look. Sponge looks like the first generation non-porous esn rubbers. Many chinese non-tacky rubbers struggle with catapult and often land short on the table or into the net. Moon 12 has no issue with this. On passive shots, i would say it achieves the catapult of rozena or vega. But it is much more linear and gets more powerful the more punchy your stroke gets. Especially with my H- version, when you punch hard, I think it is more powerful than G1. I had D09c on the other side of the blade, and without question the Moon 12 is much faster with punchy bh shots than D09c.

Second, this rubber has a nice high arc. The #1 i hate about some bh rubbers is when the arc is too low and balls tend to go into the net. This one goes quite high.

Third, it has a really solid and reliable feeling on blocks. I feel this rubber is not too sensitive, and is made for topspin.

The biggest drawback, and this may mainly be with the hard versions, is that the ball doesnt really penetrate into the sponge easily. So it feels a bit harder to lift underspin and bite into the ball. I think the Medium versions would be much better. Or maybe my H- version needs booster treatment to help engage the sponge a bit more. It really is quite hard.

Sounds like it would make a good FH rubber. How is its tack and surface grip?

I also tried H-, It felt 48 degree to me. Just below Dignics 05. Almost the same as Nittaku hammond. I think H- is ideal for backhand

Its completely untacky. The surface grip seems fine, seems standard, like the regular moon speed grip. But with the hard versions, it does feel a bit hard to spin and engage the sponge.
