Bought a Harimoto ALC and transferred my double D05 over. Hopefully this will be the last purchase for a long, long time :)
View attachment 25768
I don't Butterfly products (I have some old sheets of T05 fx, T64 fx and T80 fx that I have transferred from blade to blade) but if I were to buy a Butterfly blade, I will most likely get that one. the price is reasonable. And it is not a fast carbon. And I think Harimoto actually does use that blade!

I mean for Fan Zhendong, doesn't Butterfy have five different carbon blades under his name. That is soooo confusing. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Butterfly make similar carbon blades but just slap some famous players' names on it. Maybe those blades do play slightly different but they are probably pretty the same for most mere mortals like us.

Yep I heard some really good stuff about the Harimoto ALC blade. I think this will bring back some of my short game control (especially short push). It's tiring to freaking chiquita/flick everything and go into topspin rally/attack mode. Sometimes you just wanna push and chill hahaha

I agree. I mean with Butterfly carbon and you add Tenergy or Dignics on top of that, it is hard to control. So the solution is to flick and topspin everything. So welcome back to the short game!!!!

I am trying to decide between a Mizutani SZLC or a Harimoto SZLC. I can't pretend it will be my last purchase for a long time. But at least it will reduce my lust as the guys who play the hardest topspins at the level I want to improve at use it, and the price has been the only thing stopping me. But I have been offered the straight handle of either for $300. So I have to decide which....

Tried the Sardius combo in a serious setting and it was very good! ...when I hit the ball precisely. Its a fairly chonky blade at 94g, the Nexxus on backhand is snappy and fast but the level of grip is rather unpredictable for me, and the Golden Tango is very nice but I'm having a tough time trying to gauge the level of sponge compression so I can try and match it with a level of rub to put both speed and spin on the ball. On Ignito the Golden Tango was much more forgiving, perhaps the Sardius isn't quite broken in yet so to speak- it might just be me but I've found that after some hours on the table and a few regluings, most blades will "accept" the ball easier and submit more communication on their end.

Inner/outer construction aside, I am always more partial to the squared straight handle styles than rounded ones unless it's a bigger style round straight like the SPW or Stiga Classic style

I used my buddy’s “signature ma long 5 “ blade last night just goofin around. I’m assuming that’s the w698? Not sure if it was provincial or national. He said he bought it for $400 in last Vegas at the nationals last year.

Anyways, defintiely a big wooden feel with each head. You could feel the vibration and the flex. He had DHS hurricane 3 rubbers on there….I’m guessing not booster since he doesn’t use the paddle anymore (hurt is shoulder trying to swing too hard).

Man when I made a full swing at full power, those forehand shots were unbelievable. So much faster than my viscaria/tenergy. Definitely have to have perfect technique, even on pushes or the shots will not be quality. Felt pretty difficult to serve long but pretty easy to serve short spinny shots. That’s my novice EJ review lol.

Side of the handle shows you its province or national version.

There is a reason why all the Chinese national team players (well, almost all) use H3 on the forehand side. You cannot duplicate that feeling. Today I played with a club mate's Harimoto Innerforce Super ZLC Blade with Dignics 09c on both sides. I like it. But I am NOT about to spend that much money ($360 for the blade + $86 per sheet x 2 = $532). I am still in the experimental phase. Maybe later on I will splurge.

I completely agree, more expensive does not always mean better for you. A recent example of this is my friend, who plays Viscaria with Fastarc G1 on both sides, the other day he bought two Dignics 80s and he began to play with them worse than with Fastarcs. The Dignics 80 is a great rubber but requires the right active technique. I really liked it, and I'm sure I would add with this rubber, but I'm not ready to pay 5 times more for it.

Just stuck a skyline tg3 neo 39 degrees on my forehand to replace a STN that top sheet starting to come away from sponge.
Initial impression after a robot practice is, it is not quite as tacky as STN and definitely a notch or two slower. Could be good for short game, I felt I had decent control with my loop, but will have to see if it is just too slow for me to put much pressure on real opponents.
