After following this Olympics very close, this question came to my mind...

Does the athletes' Olympic results count points for the ITTF World Ranking?

Also, my follow up question... in what regards to the Olympics and ITTF overlap? What I'm trying to ascertain is, is it legal to boost in the Olympics?

Yes, Olympics count for World Ranking. I'm not sure about much influence the ITTF has on the Olympics, but I assume that the rules are exactly the same.

Rules are exactly the same. so boosting is not allowed but who cares they boost anyway. Im not quite sure but wttc world cup and olympics give more points to the winner (and probably some earlier stages) comparing to a world tour, world tour winners take some bonus points for winning for sure. 300 for super series 100 for challenger series something like that

german qatar korea kuwait are super series for example. smaller opens like brazil are challenger. there 3 or 4 categories of pro tours cant remember exactly. you can check that on world ittf tour schedule

The umpires are taking the bats of each player after the match so there are officials testing the bats for boosting and other illegal products.
