Assuming a SHORT serve no spin...
Short receive... get real early on the bounce... LIGHT light grip... bat angle very open... step to ball, do not use big arm motion... do a tiny side swipe, like a few cm with super light grip...
Flip... step in, catch ball on top of bounce, have tip of bat either to side for straight flip, or down 45% for something safer between a banana and straight flip.
Assuming a LONG serve no spin...
A few ways... one is to open bat some and catch ball top of bounce drive forward trough the ball a tiny off center firm up at impact or soften to be safer. Another is to let the ball fall down, even below table height... you are taking the downward energy of the ball plus your upward/forward fast bat... now you make a ton of spin and safety. Loose/medium grip.
For long spinny underspin ball... you have to read spin and WHERE the ball is going to be in 3D. One way is to let ball fall down some, keep a loose grip, get hips down for leverage and explode up/forward and whip into ball with loose grip to get huge spin. Another way is to open the bat, take ball on rise halfway to net or net height... ball has a lot of upward energy, so you do not need to lift so much... drive through ball forward and little up, impact a touch off center... now you got a fast loop happening.
