Rubber cutting

Hi everyone. I have just finished cutting the forehand rubber. It is a hurricane 3 neo on a viscaria. The rubber is a mess. Any way to fix it?

More is better Be sure that if they allowd in tournaments players to have even 3 mm more rubber they would grab the chance. So for you in my opinion just take the sharp edges if you have to and be carefull to not to overdo it.

well, truth is you didnt manage best rubber cut and i was in your potision would try to make it round without edges , but if you had cut nice just left a bit more rubber then it would be no problem . Its how you like it in your eyes. If you have no problem let it.

Try taking off the rubber, getting sharper scissors, and try making a cleaner cut where it is rough cutting as little as you can while still making it sharp and round, then try regluing rubber.

You will likely end up with a rubber that is a little too small.

You could also get a perforated box cutter, snap off a section to get a new fresh blade, and try to trim a little at a time that is ugly and excess. You will still not end up with a perfect cut, but you will have a better endstate. if you put on some edge tape after it is all said and done, it will help it look better.

I mean, if I just put some edge tape on it so that I never accidentally pull the rubber off, will it be bad for my play? Second, I am a little low on glue haha. Congrats on your 1st bad cut rubber buddy, thats a good place to start.. dont worry bout the edges. Let me share you what i do whenever i cut

Hmm after sticking a new rubber on a blade i use a shaving blade, gillete razor? You can buy a piece of it on supermarket then try running it over and over the rubber following the edge of your blade.. dont be in a hurry it will sink itself till it shed off.. try this next time maybe 6months from now im happy you are almost done with your dream set up

You could just slap edge tape on it and all it a day also, it will just look not so great. The rubber will perform exactly as good as the rubber and the glue job.

If you get a fresh blade (by snapping one off) you can leave the rubber on the blade and try to cut whatever excess is there. If you do a good job on the ragged excess and slap on some edge tape, the end result will not look so bad at all.

Boosting with oil to stretch out the rubber and correct with this method will give you the best looking result for sure, but then you will need to boost the rubber every few weeks as it will shrink slowly but surely.

Myself, I would just cut off whatever ugly excess there is with a fresh blade and maybe use some course sandpaper to get little ugly areas your blade cant get. The result doesn't have to be perfect. Just make it clean where the rubber has excess and the overall look should be plenty good looking enough, especially if you use edge tape.

I use scissors 95% of the time when I cut rubbers and Never had a job 1/10 this bad. I just took my time.

Don't worry about it,
Just put edge tape and pretend nothing happened.

Now if you are really fussy, then as Der_echte said, take the rubber off and try neaten it.
IMO, don't boost - unless you know what you are doing

I have one scissors like this, those are my favourite. I can make perfect cut every time with ease. I got them from local ''China Shop''

I have used the ONE EURO ones 5yr olds use in Kindergarten no problem. It is all about making small cuts deep into the opening, not on the tips of the scissors where there is no torque (or control). I have also used the same scissors field surgeons in the military use to cut off Soldiers' uniforms, medical sheers offset.

HLDang, this is EXACTLY what Korean coaches use to cut rubbers. The use on perforated blade for 1-3 rubbers, then break it off. They put the blade/rubber on top of the cardboard from the rubber, press really hard, cut all the way around, and take off the cutout like it was nothing.

In cases of tenergy series you cant press it hard on the board since the rubber has a tendency to shrink.. for other rubbers no prob
