What's the science behind not gluing the rubber right away right after boosting?

From what I can tell, when you boost the rubber, the sponge will expand. If you wait and let it expand it will lose it's potential energy. If you glue it right away on the paddle and doesn't let it expand wouldn't it cause the energy to be stored in the rubber and have a better spring effect?

If you glue it right after having applied the booster it might not expand or would refuse to stick to the blade ( This is NOT an answer based on science)
