I really don't know what to do right now! I'm a fairly good player, strong technique, work really hard yet as soon as I play matches it all goes wrong! I lose way to frequently particularly at top table but other matchew as well. I do practice irregular drills etc. Bit my frustration llevels have hit all time high. Mentally I lose it I played someone tonight and gave them 6 points just by missing. It's not lack of matches I've plsued for 8 years and I'm fed up of watching those go past me simply cos I can't win a match!

Perhaps now it's time to start focusing on your mental and emotional aspects of your game as well.

this may sound weird, but try to care less about the final score ... treat everything as practice and go for your shots.

i'd rather lose a game where i played the correct shots than win a game where i played too defensive/scared to lose.

I totally agree with that and I do try to do that buts that were the errors come in, if I play passive I get dominated cos that's not how I want to play. It's really weird cos on my Friday session I'm brilliant pull of all my shots in matches as well and then literally 2 days later at NJL I suck.

But then again, it can be other things like - incorrect/not good enough footwork
Could be your game plan/strategy or lack of
Could even be your technique

Could the way you train and yes, it could be mental issue too - including requiring a break/ban from the sport to freshen up

Way too many possiblities just to think about it.
You really need someone close to you, to help you here, I don't think any stranger can get it right

I don't think its my technique particularly ur probably right about a break but it kills me I get bored out of my mind. Maybe break from matches. At least Christmas is coming up.

Break for any table tennis - not allowed to watch too

Probably do need to learn to blank out previous and to the guy who said take a break. I agree but at the moment needed for league matches but tried to play like I do in training. Won 2/3 only lost 12-10 in the fifth and hit some brilliant shots! So far it's been a combination of all your tips so thanks but will still try to take a break soon.
