Butterfly blades splinter too especially the ones with limba outer plies. If you would like to try something like the tb alc, Xiom Stradivarius is a good alternative.
Generally won't happen on a TB-ALC because I think they treat the top surface of that blade with something (maybe UV light) that makes it a little harder and a bit shiny. It can certainly happen with some Btfly blades though.
It will not happen on center part of the blade. The edges are more voulnerable. I did ripped off some wood while taking off my rubber, but than again maybe I did it too fast. Also the blade was damaged on the edges a little.
