For me, older age is 12 or more.

Yes Schlager started playing with 6 but it wasnt serious until he became 18 that was what i ment. Ma Long for example was with 16 allready Top Ten and famous and for table tennis 18 is pretty old to start kind of a carrier.

Good topic. I think we have a discussion similar to this which had great replies ill look for it later when i'm on desktop. I heard Englands Desmond Douglas started playing at age of 12 and reached world number 6.

More important is when did the player start organised training to meet an end goal of high level TT.
Most European players have a go at TT among many sports at a young age. But it was not serious stuff as they were just having fun with their friends.
