Matsushima has a very poor record against lefties.
松岛比牢盆还恐左啊 (Matsushima is even more lefty-phobic than Old Peng [XP])

OMG Sora was about to make a superb comeback but failed in the last sprint...
while Honoka DID manage to make the comeback !!! from 3-11 5-11... What happened ?
LYJ just got consistent and Sora was playing a different player at the end of game 5.

Same old Matsushima. Nothing to write home about.

Nagasaki got hasty after taking first 2 games. Didn't adjust until late G5 but the hole was too big to fill.

I think he is really adept at playing overall. And he finally started believing in himself. I wonder if the absence of his father on the bench doesn't help. Maybe Miwa could use this trick :D

Prithika Pavade ? Sorry but Leana is not near Pavade's level for now, when a new pair enters a competition, they're first seeded according to their individual rankings, and have to pass the qualifications draw, as Flavien and Charlotte had to do. Anyways, and this is what zeio once said when I asked him: it's way better to have a lefty male in a XD pair than a lefty female.

EDIT: to prove my point
Secretin - Bergeret XD world champions in 1977 . Secrétin was a lefty male.
Gatien - Xiao Ming Wang-Dréchou XD european champions in 1990 . Gatien lefty male
Lebesson - Jianan Yuan XD european champions in 2022. Manu is a lefty male. They were also semi-finalists in the Tokyo Olympics, but lost to Lin Yun-Ju/Cheng I-Ching for the bronze medal, another lefty male with that Taïwan XD pair.
Lefty's!

Is it just me or has Batra improved her forehand significantly?
I felt she had a good forehand circa 2022 when she got the Asian Cup bronze. Tweaks since them but nothing radical. Before that, not so much. She has always been better at counterspinning than opening.

I think in this event, both Milos and Kay have sent warning shots.

LYJ just got consistent and Sora was playing a different player at the end of game 5.
Sora's problem is that he only has an A game at basically 100% power, prioritising speed over spin, and no B game at a lower power percentage whatsoever. When it works, he is an unplayable beast, like in games 3 and 4 v LYJ. And then it stops working, he doesn't adapt. In other words, it's inexperience. He'll grow up and in the process gain that experience.

Yeah he gets zero credit for coming back from 0-2 down because he lost.
The journey doesn’t matter if the destination is still the same

Exactly, just like how Hayata has come close to beating SYS 4 times (all Bo5) out of 17 but always came up short.

Hirano beat SYS in their first-ever WS match (Bo7) at WTT CT Zagreb 2023 after coming close the immediately previous 2 times in JGS (Bo7) and XT (Bo5) at Youth Olympics 2018.

0 vs 1. Like LGL said about LGY, "你看很多运动员,看似差一点,其实差很多" (You see many athletes that seem to be a little worse but are in fact a lot worse).

一针见血!高远的问题,5年前刘国梁就已经看出来了!

Yeah, 18 year olds are calcified fish, they have no chance to take steps towards new behaviors, their past is their destiny. How one lost can't show progress, it is just the loss that matters.
