I suppose it kinda clashes with their national championships, and they prefer to focus on that. It should be a good tournament anyway. I'm excited about it! It's not everyday you get to see stars playing in your own city, especially if it's not a major city in a table tennis country.

Not surprised at all, bigger events are coming up and what you have described is a minor crisis. What will be interesting is whether he has any real solutions, the problem is incredibly difficult, Ma Long endorsing him is not going to solve it.
