Hugo is known to dislike or at least choose not to use carbon due to some loss of the feeling, so I'm quite surprised when I see a new Hugo signature blade using TMX. Will Hugo actually use it in a match?

I was hoping they also make a non pro version or an inner type though. I'm currently using AJH TMXi non-pro and love the big head size and the feeling it gives.

Exactly, his old cornilleau blade also had no carbon.

That‘s why I was surprised when Xiom said that they have officially discontinued the HAL and SAL. I am still doubtful this is true, since Hugo still used the HAL during the lasts events.

Regarding Hugo TMX, I am interested in the blade but the headsize is too large for me

Seems like Vega Asia H and Vega Europe H have been released in Europe now, Vega Pro H has been out for a while.

Vega Asia H with its 50 degree sponge sounds interesting to me, as I'm currently using Omega 7 Asia on my backhand.

Any impressions on the new rubbers?

Some news regarding the discontinuation of Hugo Calderano HAL. Earlier this year, I couldn't find any FL Hugo HAL blades in Europe anymore. I asked Xiom Europe, and they told me the blade was officially discontinued. Other sources from other regions however stated that the blade is still being sold.

Because I just love the blade and wanted to know for sure, I contacted Hugo Calderano's management via the mail adress from his instagram a few months ago. Actually, they answered this weekend and told me that they got in contact with Xiom. Xiom told them that the blade is still in high demand and therefore a bit difficult to find. However, Hugo is still using his Hugo HAL, and it is therefore also not being discontinued.

Good news because I dont intend to switch to anything else for a long time.

According to ttgearlab, Hugo HAL has Kiri center layer, and Hugo SAL has Ayous center layer.
At first I was surprised to read it: Outer-fibre blade with ayous core? Kiri is usually the standard choice for a blade construction like that. But after looking at some of the better close-ups (others were somewhat inconclusive) I tend to agree that the SAL actually does have an ayous core, while the HAL clearly has a kiri core.

Nevertheless ttgearlab got it wrong with the middle layer of both the SAL and the HAL, which also kinda surprised me, because they rarely get something like that wrong and I myself oftentimes use ttgearlab as a reference/source.
In the second pic - the sideview - (https://ttgearlab.com/2023/08/07/xiom-hugo-hal-lab-test-report/) we can see that the middle layer of the HAL is in fact limba.
On being able to distinguish ayous from limba I have in the past linked to Sergio's website before, because his explanations are easy to understand (and see due to the side-by-side close-ups of limba vs. ayous) even for "laymen".
Perhaps TTGearLab will get info on this and change it in their review of the HAL...
