Xu Xin managed to retain his title at the GAC Group World Tour Grand Finals in Dubai on Sunday 12th January 2014, making him the second person to ever claim the men’s singles title in consecutive years.

The only other player with this prestigious achievement is none other than Xu Xin’s colleague and friend Ma Long who he met in the final. Ma Long managed to win the title in both 2008 and 2009.
The final was anything but one-sided with with both players demonstrating a high calibre of play, stretching it out to the seventh set. The outstanding match contained exceptional attacking power from both of the esteemed Chinese players with Xu Xin emerging victorious (11-8, 10-12, 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-5).
