Yeo vs Hybrid Wood?

This user has no status.
So my Stiga Hybrid Wood is splintering like crazy when i peel the rubbers off and it seems like I wont be able to do it so many times more..
Should have gone with that sealer.. :(

Looking for a new blade my eyes zeroed in on the Yeo.
Really nice price, comes in penhold, and seems to be liked by many?

Anyone compared it to the hybrid wood?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a hybrid wood, but i have been the owner of the YEO for about 2-3 years now. I can say that this blade is great. Has great sweet spot, not to fast, has a lot of feeling in it for short game. Also, this blade is easy to control your shots with. At an affordable price, this blade is one of the best. If your also looking for a good blade, i also heard the stiga clipper is good as well. The clipper should be a few dollars more expensive but i hear it is good as well.

I heard that wood is the best. It has the most feeling of all the clippers apparently. The difference between the YEO and Clipper wood is the YEO is cheaper and a 5 ply where the clipper is 7 ply but a bit more expensive. I once read that the YEO is good for looping and the CLipper is for drives and i guess more for flat hitters? That is what i hear but i am not sure.

I have to be honest with you, the simplest Clipper (the Classic Clipper) is the least expensive and the best. But if you play penhold, the Ma Lin Extra Offensive may be the way to go. But either would be a great choice.

Also, the Clipper Classic is also called Clipper Wood.

The Clipper is a blade that can do everything. I know a bunch of pro players who are primarily loopers who use a Clipper. 7 plies heavier but more inertia behind the ball.

The different Yasaka Extra versions are very good for penhold though.

One thing to know, when Xu Xin stopped using the Rosewood, before he started using the Stiga Intensity, he used a Ma Lin Extra Offensive for a few tournaments. It is also worth knowing that the Stiga Intensity is a MLEO clone. [emoji2]

Maybe you should have sealed the blade? That should stop the splintering problem.Just a tiny layer should be sufficient.
and Ik it might not be a 100% accurate. But you can get a certain picture from looking at the ttdb ratings and comparing.

http://www.tabletennisdb.com/blade/stiga-hybrid-wood.html
http://www.tabletennisdb.com/blade/yasaka-ma-lin-extra-offensive.html

I've not tried either, but I have tried Stiga Intencity (I got my friend to get it for himself so I could try it mwahahaha)
It has a very diferent feel from my HH3, not bad diferent, but I do prefer Hurricane Hao III a fair bit more.
When I choose HH3, I did ofc go through all reviews I could find, though I also checked on other blades, Like the MEO.
But overall
(review on HH3) - "To rate this amazing racket , i used the MEO that i have, and it's rating on this database... It is a litle slower than MEO, but have a lot of more control, and and much more spin...the ball get more spin easily, the sound is alsome, and the wood feeling is less sensitive than the MEO (what i like, cause MEO is too muc sensitive for me)."
Whereby, (considering Intensity the same as MEO) I get what he mean by "wood feeling is less sensitive", the MEO would probably feel more like an almost extended hand, while HH3 has the ultimate feedback/Darksound/light vibration/hardButGood-feel.
This description made me go for the HH3, lol. I can safely say, I won't be looking for any other blades any time soon.
MEO does indeed seem like a good choice (and a bit cheaper than both Hybrid wood and HH3), though, if you have the money, I would still give HH3 a recommendation. :L
Also worth mention, Intensity has a REALLY light pinch sound, while HH3 has a REALLY dark pinch sound, it's almost funny how they are complete opposites in sound lol. Silver Line Carbon also had a light sound, but it was a bit annoying light sound tbh, meanwhile the Intensity has a pretty nice light sound. (yes, this is the most important factor of all...)

Though no matter which of these blades you pick, I'd still recommend sealing them.

I have a YEO for maybe 1 year to 18 months now.
I didn't seal it

I think over this time frame - more than 10 to 15 pairs of rubbers was on/off this blade

No problem with splintering, other than someone used by bat in the 1st week and smash a dent in it. That part splintered a bit, but other than that, the blade is pretty strong.

I agree, sealing 1 layer is good protection.

Also just check what glue you use and be caution on how you take off the rubber (some blades, you require to take off the rubber on a different direction as the wood grains)

I have had a yeo c-pen for about 2 years. I like it a lot and haven't had any problems with damage. It feels a little stiffer and harder than most of my other blades.

Looks like ill give the yeo a spin.
The price is more than right. 38€..

Will be fun to see what rubbers that blade fancies..

Any of you play with tensors on fh with this blade?

Sort of tired of the chinese rubbers. So much dirt stick to the grippy surfaice, feels like the get worn faster than euro rubbers. My boost xt looks brand new. The TG2 neo is worn.

Funny thing though: My old stiga original wrb absolutly exploded with old H3 neo and TG2 neo rubbers (boosted way past recommendation.)
A big surprice! Finding chinese rubbers working even better on softer blades than stiff ones.

I will be a grashopper for life!

Currently, i play with tensors on both sides of the YEO. The Xiom Vega Europe on both sides. I can say tensors work well with this blade. I would say that i hit 90% of my shots with this blade. There is no weak point of this blade really. It has almost everything you can ask for at an affordable price.

I also use Tensors

Xiom Vega China on FH and Xiom Vega Euro on BH at the moment

If you like Chinese style rubber but don't like too much tack, worth having a look at Vega China

Imo, with the stiffer outer ply of the YEO, the softer rubbers does feel extra comfortable and easier to make shots with (refering to Vega Euro)

Do you play RBP though with the vega europe? I'm thinking of buying that rubber for my backhand too and want to know what you think of it for RBP

I use it for my RPB

Nice and soft with great control, so easy to grip the ball and to block with it

Imo, RPB (or for me) doesn't need speedy rubbers, it need more control and easy to grip the ball and I always prefer softer sponges for this case.

Before I liked the Andro Hexer + for this reason, and now I seem to find the Vega Euro fitting in very well
