There are 32 seeds
There were some surprises last year, and I think (not 100% sure) that the draw is made according to last year's results and not according to the players rankings. So I'm presenting the scheduled 1/4 finals + where the other top players are
So here are the scheduled quarterfinals for men's singles
Mizutani - Ooya (but Takagiwa, Morizono ,Kenta Matsudaira are in the same block)
Morita - Yoshimura (Machi and Jin are in the same block)
Kasahara - Niwa (Oshima, Muramatsu, Ueda, Shiono in the same block)
Sakai - Chan (Kenji Matsudaira in the same block) -> this block seems less dense than the other ones...
So here are the scheduled quarterfinals for women's singles
Ishikawa - Hamamoto (Yamamoto, Misaki Morizono, Wakamiya are here)
Sato - Kyoka Kato (Doi, Tashiro are here)
Ito - Hayata (Hashimoto is here)
Matsuzawa - Hirano (Mori, Miyu Kato, Maeda, Abe are here)
Fukuhara is not playing this year. She is focusing on her new life as a housewife it seems.
She did not participate in the qualifying tournament to be a national team member, so she will miss the 2017 World Championships. Maybe her long time in the national team is already over at 28....
